Pontiac is looking for a new girls basketball coach.
Phoenix coach Christopher Wright stepped down from coaching in June and the posting for a new coach was posted in July.
Wright was 33-71 in his six years at Pontiac.
Pontiac did not field a team last season due to COVID-19 protocols. They are expected to have a program this season but with Wright leaving the program it is expected to be more of a challenge this season.
The Phoenix are in the Blue with Harper Woods, Avondale, Seaholm, Farmington, Oak Park, Ferndale, and Ferndale University. They are in a very brutal district with Clarkston, Waterford Kettering, Waterford Mott, and Avondale at Waterford Kettering.
Thoughts
Whoever coaches Pontiac will have a tough job ahead of them. They did not field a program last season. Program strength is a major concern for the Phoenix this season
However it will be a fresh start. I know Phoenix Athletic Director Lee Montgomery really well. He is a very good man and a great person to work with. Whomever applies for the job will have a great and supportive athletic director to work with and great kids in the school.
It will take time to build the program but it is a perfect opportunity for a coach to make their name in a great school district.
Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
Here is the Tweet from Montgomery about the application process at Pontiac.
