There will be a change in coaching in Girls Basketball at Berkley.
Bears coach Kirk Carolan confirmed by a very accurate source has stepped down coaching the program. He took an assistant coaching job at Macomb Community College for women's basketball.
Carolan spent four years coaching at Berkley. He was 52-29 overall with the Bears.
Whoever the new coach will be should have a very interesting team in front of them. Berkley has Ashley Loon, Ava Beard, Aurora Sousanis, and Sammi Withrow coming back.
The Bears are in a very tough division this season. They are in the White with Lake Orion, Oxford, Troy Athens, North Farmington, Rochester, Adams, and Bloomfield Hills. The district is very challenging with Detroit Renaissance, Oak Park, Detroit Mumford, and Royal Oak at Detroit Renaissance.
Thoughts
I'm shocked with how this occured. If colleges call people usually listen. Berkley is in a really difficult spot being in the White and program strength is a huge issue. They have a really good player in Ashley Loon coming back but program strength as mentioned is very concerning.
This is going to be a really tough chore for Bears Athletic Director Taylor Horn especially this late in the game if your looking for a new coach. Does Berkley go within??? that's the question to watch.
We'll see what happens.
Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
