Week Eight Thoughts.

Written Saturday October 16th at 12:15 AM

Berkley: The Bears suffered a very tough loss on Friday night falling 10-7 to Troy at Hurley Field. Berkley gave up a 34 yard field goal at the end of the game. The loss ends the Bears Blue title hopes. Berkley has Pontiac looming next week.

Ferndale: The Eagles needed this one by surviving Pontiac 14-6 on Friday night on their home field. Ferndale is very young from an experience standpoint. They have Farmington next week.

Farmington: The Falcons have won three straight including a huge 28-24 victory at Dick Bye Field on Friday night over Avondale. Farmington has a big one looming with Ferndale next week.

Troy Athens: The Red Hawks picked up a game this week against Detroit Renaissance on their home field. They had no problem with the Phoenix winning 41-6 on Friday afternoon. Troy Athens has Avondale looming next week.

Troy: The Colts needed a 34 yard field goal to beat Berkley 10-7 at Hurley Field on Friday night. Troy made a goal line stand as well to give them this chance. They are 8-0 and heads to Bloomfield Hills next week for a chance to win the Blue outright.

Avondale: The Yellow Jackets suffered a tough 28-24 loss to Farmington on Friday night. Avondale still has a chance to make the postseason if things work out. They have Troy Athens next week.

Bloomfield Hills: The Blackhawks had no problem with Royal Oak on Friday night winning 38-7. Bloomfield Hills is unbeaten and has a huge showdown for the Blue looming with Troy next week.

Pontiac: The Phoenix were in the game throughout even though they fell 14-6 to Ferndale on Friday night. I really like the direction that the Phoenix are heading. Pontiac has a tough one with Berkley next week but they are heading in the right direction.

Royal Oak: It was a tough matchup for the Ravens after falling 38-7 to Bloomfield Hills on Friday night. Royal Oak has a very interesting matchup with Fraser next week.

Adams: The Highlanders are “City Champs” after beating Stoney Creek 40-20 on Friday night. Adams is rolling at 8-0 and is gaining confidence. They head to Detroit to play Detroit Renaissance next week.

North Farmington: It was a tough pill to swallow for the Raiders on Friday night in the Swamp. North Farmington had a 16-15 lead in the middle of the fourth quarter only to see West Bloomfield score 15 unanswered points to win 30-16. The Raiders have lost five straight games and has a tough matchup looming with Traverse City Central next week.

Groves: It was a rough night for the Falcons as they fell 33-8 to Clarkston on Friday night. Groves has a tough one looming with Sterling Heights Stevenson next week.

Oak Park: The Knights earned a huge shootout win over Southfield Arts and Tech 42-28 on Friday night. Oak Park has Clarkston looming next week.

Rochester: The Falcons postseason hopes took a hit on Friday night. Rochester fell 33-14 to Oxford in a physical tight game. The Falcons have Ann Arbor Huron looming next week. Tonight did not help Rochester’s chances.

Seaholm: The Maples were overwhelmed by Lake Orion 35-6 on Friday night. The Dragons shut down Seaholm’s veer offense and they had trouble stopping the ground attack all night. The Maples have Stoney Creek next week.

West Bloomfield: The Lakers had to comeback from 16-15 down to win 30-16 over North Farmington on Friday night in the Swamp. West Bloomfield had some issues in this game but found a way to pull it out. They have Utica Eisenhower coming to the Swamp next week.

Clarkston: It was a happy homecoming for the Wolves as they blew out Groves 33-8 on Friday night. Clarkston is rolling which is a great sign for them. They have Oak Park next week.

Lake Orion: It was a happy homecoming for the Dragons as they blew out Seaholm 35-6 on Friday night. There is a slimmer of hope for Lake Orion that they could get a postseason berth with the schedule. They need to beat unbeaten Saline next week to make that dream possible.

Southfield Arts and Tech: What has happened to the Warriors defense??? This is the fourth straight game they have allowed over 40 points. Southfield Arts and Tech is in deep trouble and have a tough matchup with River Rouge next week.

Oxford: The Wildcats postseason hopes got a big boost on Friday night with a 33-14 win over Rochester. Oxford is peaking at the right time. They have a huge program game looming with Chippewa Valley next week.

Stoney Creek: It was going to be a tough matchup on Friday night for the Cougars against Adams. Stoney Creek did everything they could but fell 40-20 to the Highlanders on Friday night. The Cougars have the Maples looming next week.

Harper Woods: It was a tough loss for the Pioneers on Friday night as they took on Warren DeLaSalle at Wayne State. Harper Woods fell 47-26 on Friday night. The Pioneers should be fine going forward. They have Ecorse looming next week.

I have highest function of autism (Asperger Syndrome.) I'm a huge Dallas Stars fan. I like to play and watch football, especially when the Dragons play on Friday nights. I am a 2006 alum and used to play football for the Dragons. I ran track, I ran the 100, 200, 400 meter dashes along with shot-put and discus. During my time in Orion I was a manager for Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team. I'm the volleyball, girls basketball, and football announcer for the team and do the book on the road for girls basketball. I do the clock for volleyball in the fall along with girls basketball in the winter and announce some boys basketball games as well. In the spring I coach shot-put at Scripps Middle School, in my fifth season coaching. I run the shot-put for high school meets. I played Special Olympics Basketball, I've won three gold medals for them. I host "Between Taorminas" which is on ONTV along with a podcast called "OAA Now". In other various things outside of Lake Orion, I love to jet ski over Saginaw Bay. Saginaw Bay is basically my life. I'm a trained weather spotter for the National Weather Service for Oakland and Huron counties.
