This came out of nowhere.
West Bloomfield Boys Basketball Coach Jeremy Denha has stepped down on Wednesday morning. He left to be the new boys basketball coach at Utica Ford II. Denha lives in Macomb County which was one of the reasons why he decided to take the Falcons job and Utica Ford II is close to his home and his family.
Denha went to Utica Ford in the late 1990's. He played under legendary coach Jim Barker and led the Falcons to a district title in 1998.
His new school will be in the Macomb Area White this season.
He will still be teaching at West Bloomfield.
"I have been truly blessed for the last ten years to coach in one of the best school districts in the State of Michigan. Thank you to all of my current/former players, parents, administrators, and coaches. I love all of you very much" Denha said in a tweet.
The West Bloomfield Boys Basketball Twitter page released a statement as well "Coach Denha has positively impacted hundreds of student-athletes and has built our program into one of Oakland County's best. Thank you Coach Denha for your decade of leadership here at WB. Good luck Coach" the tweet said.
Denha in his ten years at West Bloomfield has led the Lakers to a 2017 Class A Final Four and has been a proven state power throughout.
The Lakers in 2021-2022 should have a pretty good team with Mitchell Seay, Ryan Hurst, Sean Patrick, and Davier Burt coming back. They are in the Red with Clarkston, Adams, Ferndale, North Farmington, Oak Park, and Farmington. The district is pretty tough even though they are at home but they have Birmingham Brother Rice, Orchard Lake St. Marys, Bloomfield Hills, Groves, and Seaholm.
Denha left a long lasting impact at West Bloomfield. It's going to be very hard to replace him. He left a great legacy coaching the Lakers.
