Romeo at West Bloomfield: This is shaping up to be an interesting game between the Bulldogs and Lakers. This is only the second meeting between the schools. West Bloomfield hammered Sterling Heights Stevenson 63-6 in the district finals at Runkel Field. The Lakers have allowed nine points in six games which included playoff blowouts of Utica Ford and Troy. Romeo has really overachieved especially in the last four games. They forced seven turnovers to stun Stoney Creek 45-27 in the district finals. The Bulldogs beat Macomb Dakota on a controversial play and New Baltimore Anchor Bay to get to this matchup all of which were away from Dan Barnabo Field. Romeo has a very good defense but West Bloomfield has a very good offense. Whomever shows up will win this game in “The Swamp.”

SANDY DUNES PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 42, ROMEO 0.

LOCKE PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD over ROMEO.

DUNLAP PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 24, ROMEO 17.

BURNEY PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 28, ROMEO 18.

STICK PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 28, ROMEO 14.

COTTER PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 49, ROMEO 7.

North Farmington at Traverse City Central: This is going to be the second meeting between these two programs with the first being in 1978. I’m wondering how Coach Jon Herstein and the Raiders are going to make that long four hour ride north on I-75 and then go west onto M-72 past US-31 toward 13th and Pine Street and the Grand Traverse Bay shoreline to play a very good Trojans program in Grand Traverse County. Traverse City Central had to knock off an undefeated Midland program 30-22 at Midland Community Stadium in the district finals. North Farmington went through Waterford Kettering and Fenton in the postseason. South Lyon had to forfeit the district finals because of COVID-19 earning the Raiders their first ever district title. I’m not convinced with the Trojans based on their schedule despite playing Macomb Dakota falling 42-13. Traverse City Central are well coached and they have a Western Michigan commit in lineman Carson Briggs among other talented players but they do have a ton of guys that go two ways as well. I’m really concerned with North Farmington after having the really long layoff and to have to travel up I-75 to M-72 in Grayling and past US-31. Both teams are experienced and talented. This should be a very interesting game at legendary Thirlby Field.

SANDY DUNES PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 34, TRAVERSE CITY CENTRAL 31.

LOCKE PICK: TRAVERSE CITY CENTRAL over NORTH FARMINGTON.

DUNLAP PICK: TRAVERSE CITY CENTRAL 31, NORTH FARMINGTON 14.

BURNEY PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 31, TRAVERSE CITY CENTRAL 30.

STICK PICK: TRAVERSE CITY CENTRAL 21, NORTH FARMINGTON 20.

COTTER PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 28, TRAVERSE CITY CENTRAL 21.

Oak Park at Livonia Churchill: This is looking like this game could have shootout written all over it. This is the first ever meeting despite being geographically close and separated by Oakland and Wayne counties. Both the Knights and Chargers run the zone read pistol offense which has been common lately for most schools. They have proven experience quarterbacks in Oak Park’s James Burney and Livonia Churchill’s Gavin Brooks. Both teams have proven running backs in Davion Primm and Alyante Williams along with proven wide receivers in Jaylen Mines and Bayley Brooks. Line play could be the difference maker in this game especially with Rayshawn Benny for the Knights. Oak Park was red hot until “the pause” came. They have played a very difficult Red schedule along with earning shocking victories over Grosse Pointe South, Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit, and Wyandotte. Livonia Churchill had to knock off Dexter and Livonia Franklin to get to this matchup. Expect a ton of points to scored in this game.

SANDY DUNES PICK: OAK PARK 48, LIVONIA CHURCHILL 42.

LOCKE PICK: OAK PARK over LIVONIA CHURCHILL.

DUNLAP PICK: OAK PARK 27, LIVONIA CHURCHILL 20.

BURNEY PICK: OAK PARK 27, LIVONIA CHURCHILL 26.

STICK PICK: LIVONIA CHURCHILL 28, OAK PARK 20.

COTTER PICK: OAK PARK 40, LIVONIA CHURCHILL 35.
