West Bloomfield at Belleville: This is Lakers vs Tigers Round Three. West Bloomfield has saw their season end at the hands of Belleville on their home field in the last two years. They fell 27-22 after blowing a 15-0 lead last season and 13-10 in 2018. Both of these teams have been very dominant this season. The Lakers since their 24-21 overtime loss to Clarkston. They have outscored their last eight opponents by a combined 323-30 including a 115-20 mark in the postseason. West Bloomfield dominated Romeo 52-14 last week behind four touchdowns from Donovan Edwards. Edwards has had 10 touchdowns in the last two games against the Bulldogs and Sterling Heights Stevenson in the district finals. The Tigers have showed their dominance since their 29-26 escape against Livonia Stevenson. They have outscored their last eight opponents by a combined 474-60 including a 177-46 mark in the postseason. Belleville has a ton of very talented players starting with quarterback Christian Dhue-Reid. Dhue-Reid is the State’s career record holder for most passing touchdowns at 132 along with running back Kobe Johnson and wide receivers Darrel Johnson and Tyree Lockett. The Tigers defense has also been solid this season led by lineman Damon Payne along with linebackers Cameron Dyson, Aaron Alexander, Ahzahnn Byrd, and JaShawn Green along with a very good secondary in Myles Rowser and Charles Wilson. Rowser did not play last week against Detroit Cass Tech and their defense took back three touchdowns in their stunning 43-10 blowout. Belleville has had a ton of problems in this round in which they lost 22-19 to Brighton last season and 28-16 to Chippewa Valley. West Bloomfield has their fair share of athletes in Edwards, Dylan Tatum, Jordan Elam, among others. This will be the best defense that quarterback Alex Short has seen all season. If the Lakers want to get to Ford Field the road goes through Belleville. Expect this game to be tight on Saturday afternoon on Fox Sports Detroit.

Oak Park at Warren DeLaSalle: This will be the third meeting between the Knights and Pilots. Warren DeLaSalle is 2-0 against Oak Park with a 35-7 blowout in Knight Valley in 2018 and a 14-7 win at Wayne State in 2017. Both teams have a ton to prove heading into the game at the new Warren DeLaSalle football field on campus where they needed approval from the Warren City Council on Friday afternoon. Oak Park is trying to be the first 0-6 team (technically 1-5) to make the State Finals. The Knights have been battle tested and have had a ton of travel miles under their belt whether it was to Lake Orion, Clarkston, and Oxford to going into Macomb and Wayne Counties like Grosse Pointe South, Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit, Wyandotte, and Livonia Churchill. Oak Park stunned Livonia Churchill 30-23 last week on a winning 41 yard passing score from quarterback James Burnley to wide receiver Amari Harris. The Knights are playing with nothing to lose. Warren DeLaSalle have had a rough offseason from a hazing scandal that saw a change in administration and coaches. They named Dan Rohm as the new coach in March and he brings a championship pedigree coaching at Grand Rapids West Catholic. The Pilots went for 395 total yards in a 45-3 blowout of Warren Mott last week. Warren DeLaSalle also has some top notch players in quarterback Brady Drogosh along with running back Brett Stanley and wide receivers Alton McCullum and Jack Yanachik. The Pilots have a very good defense as well led by linebacker Will Beesley. Warren DeLaSalle really hasn’t been tested in the postseason despite playing in the always competitive Catholic League Central with their huge victory against Orchard Lake St. Marys (21-13) along with losses coming to Novi Detroit Catholic Central (13-10), Birmingham Brother Rice (27-25), DeWitt (43-3), and Detroit Cass Tech (35-0.) The Pilots have outscored Roseville, St Clair Shores Lakeview, Port Huron, and Warren Mott by a combined 174-23. The Knights really need to play a clean and disciplined game if they want to get to Ford Field. This game should be tight on Saturday afternoon in Warren.
