BIG WIN: Southfield Arts and Tech. The Warriors had a ton of emotion heading into this game with West Bloomfield in the Swamp on Friday night. The day started out sad as they had the funeral of Kara Allen and her three siblings who were murdered by her step dad last week. Southfield Arts and Tech went to work on Friday night and shockingly beat the Lakers 33-14 and keep their playoff hopes alive. The loss sends West Bloomfield into a must win game with Clarkston.

TOUGH LOSS: Clarkston. The Wolves offense had a major road block on Friday night at Oak Park against the Knights in a 14-7 loss. Oak Park needed this win badly as now they got two big wins over two very good teams in Adams and Clarkston. The Wolves need to get better fast as they got a desperate West Bloomfield team that sits at 3-3 coming to Clarkston next week.

TEAM THAT NEEDS A HUG: Harrison. The Hawks went to overtime on Friday night with Groves, the team that beat them in the playoffs. Harrison was trying to regroup after a tough 21-9 loss to Adams last week but Falcons coach Brandon Flaherty surprised everyone in the overtime session by calling a pass on a fourth and goal from the Hawks one yard line. The play worked to perfection as quarterback Beau Kelly connected to Basketball standout Drew Scheckel for a one yard touchdown pass. Harrison tried to score late but was intercepted in the endzone to assure the 14-7 win for Groves. The Hawks now sit at 3-3 on the season and must win out if they want to make the playoffs. That road gets tougher as Harrison has tough games as they have to go to Oak Park and Oxford to close out the regular season.

WHAT HAPPENED: Rochester. The Falcons had something made if they won out but that did not happen as they lost at Stoney Creek to Troy 28-21 on Thursday night. Rochester led 14-7 at the half but the Colts responded in the third quarter scoring 21 points on route to the win. It was Troy’s second win of the season and a huge one for coach Gary Griffith. The Falcons took a bit of hit after this game as they sit at 3-3 but the schedule looks very manageable as two of the next three games are at Stoney Creek starting with Royal Oak with them being the home team and being the road team with games at Stoney Creek and at Hazel Park.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME: Hazel Park Part III. I don’t know how to explain this, three times that the Vikings are here. Hazel Park won an emotional 19-14 win over Royal Oak last week and they got to play winless Avondale on its homecoming. Well the Yellow Jackets did not look like a winless team on Friday night in Hazel Park as the Vikings let Avondale running back Vince Wright score three touchdowns and had 162 yards rushing on 23 carries in a 39-6 blowout giving them their first win of the season and the first as the Yellow Jackets coach for Ed Coutrier. Avondale’s other running back Derrick Hinton had a 38-yard touchdown run and had a good game himself. Chance Chatman also scored a three-yard touchdown. To make matters worse for Hazel Park, Dallas Cleary got thrown out of the game. Very disappointed with the Vikings, thought they turned the corner.
