Boys Lacrosse
LAKE ORION vs Birmingham Brother Rice @ Troy Athens
Hartland vs Novi Detroit Catholic Central @ Howell Parker Middle School
INSIGHT/PREDICTION: Looking at the State Semifinal matchups both of them are very interesting. In the Lake Orion/Birmingham Brother Rice matchup Dragons coach Ron Herbert takes on his former school in which he turned the Warriors into a consistent State Power. In the Hartland/Novi Detroit Catholic Central matchup both the Eagles and Shamrocks are no strangers to each other meeting in the postseason in most years. It’s shaping up to be no different when looking at it. Birmingham Brother Rice and Novi Detroit Catholic Central are like the Lakers and the Celtics in the old classic NBA. Lake Orion reminds me of the Detroit Pistons whom in the past have dented the dynasties of the Lakers and the Celtics. Hartland is in the same fold as Lake Orion when it comes to the Pistons. It’s going to be hard to beat the Lakers and the Celtics like what Lake Orion and Hartland have to do but it seems very doable. However until someone breaks the Catholic League’s stronghold in Boys Lacrosse it's looking like it will be another Birmingham Brother Rice/Novi Detroit Catholic Central state final with the Warriors winning the crown but I hope I’m wrong and either the Dragons and or Eagles can break through would be a great storyline.
Girls Lacrosse @ Haslett
BLOOMFIELD HILLS vs Brighton
Midland vs Rockford
INSIGHT/PREDICTION: Bloomfield Hills has finally broken the reign of Birmingham United when they beat the Bulldogs in the regional semifinals on route to a regional championship. The Blackhawks will have a very tough task of taking on Brighton in Haslett. On the other side there is Midland vs Rockford. The Rams are a proven powerhouse in Girls Lacrosse while the Cavaliers are the upstarts after upsetting Hartland in the pre-regionals. I think until proven otherwise that anyone can beat Rockford, I just don’t see anyone really doing that but anything is possible.
