Football Picks-Week Four.

Written Tuesday September 15th at 12:10 PM

Records:

Keith 35-9
Dan 31-13
Ant 31-13
Sammy 31-13
Sean 28-16

1. West Bloomfield at 6. Troy Athens:

This game has become a big game for both teams as the Red could be on the line here. The Lakers were supposed to be here but the Red Hawks weren’t supposed to be here after their wins over Orion and Oxford. West Bloomfield won 35-21 over Clarkston while Troy Athens won 28-0 over Oxford last week. This is the home opener for the Red Hawks, let’s see how they handle being at home in a big game atmosphere against a team that runs a 2011 Michigan style offense.

SAMMY PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 35, TROY ATHENS 14.
ANT PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 42, TROY ATHENS 21.
KEITH PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 27, TROY ATHENS 17.
DAN PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 28, TROY ATHENS 21.
SEAN PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 42, TROY ATHENS 21.

Stoney Creek at 8. Clarkston:

This could be a trap game for the Wolves in their home opener. Clarkston lost their starting quarterback but could get their starting running back Nolan Eriksen is expected back this week but the development of sophomore Michael Fluegel whom had 139 yards and two scores last week. The Wolves lost 35-21 to West Bloomfield after two turnovers cost them dearly in that game. The Cougars had no problem with Bloomfield Hills scoring 35 points in a 35-17 win. Both teams need this game if they want to remain in the playoff hunt.

SAMMY PICK: CLARKSTON 28, STONEY CREEK 14.
ANT PICK:  CLARKSTON 35, STONEY CREEK 21.
KEITH PICK: CLARKSTON 14, STONEY CREEK 13.
DAN PICK: CLARKSTON 27, STONEY CREEK 14.
SEAN PICK: CLARKSTON 28, STONEY CREEK 21.

Oxford at 9. Orion:

The Dragons should be very upset after losing 21-14 to Oxford last season. Orion finally became itself for one week in a 37-3 beat down of Troy. The Wildcats were shutout for the second time this season 28-0. The key will be in the trenches as Oxford’s experienced offensive line goes up against Orion’s defensive line but they do have Drew Casey and a healthy Jaylen Wiggins for this game. The question will be which running back shows up either Wyatt Harden or Keith Fields. Whomever running back shows up wins the Double O Trophy.

SAMMY PICK: ORION 21, OXFORD 0.
ANT PICK: ORION 28, OXFORD 7.
KEITH PICK: ORION 21, OXFORD 10.
DAN PICK: ORION 24, OXFORD 14.
SEAN PICK: ORION 28, OXFORD 14.

Troy at Bloomfield Hills:

The Blackhawks played better against Stoney Creek scoring 17 points despite losing 35-17. The defense has been a major problem for Bloomfield Hills. Youth and scoring has been a huge problem for the Colts. Troy has only scored six points this season, which is second to last in the league (Pontiac is worst.) One of these teams will come out with a win while the other team will be in the cellar. This will be the Colts first road game of the season.

SAMMY PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 10, TROY 3.
ANT PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 17, TROY 14.
KEITH PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 21, TROY 14.
DAN PICK: TROY 14, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 7.
SEAN PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 28, TROY 10.

North Farmington at 2. Southfield:

The Blue Jays have found a running back in the last two games since losing week one to Detroit Cass Tech at Wayne State. Southfield has been able to score 75 points in that span. The Raiders did not look good against Rochester despite winning 22-12 last week. North Farmington is 2-1 but they haven’t been impressive or have played to caliber of competition as the Blue Jays have had in recent weeks.

SAMMY PICK: SOUTHFIELD 49, NORTH FARMINGTON 7.
ANT PICK: SOUTHFIELD 42, NORTH FARMINGTON 0.
KEITH PICK: SOUTHFIELD 35, NORTH FARMINGTON 7.
DAN PICK: SOUTHFIELD 30, NORTH FARMINGTON 20.
SEAN PICK: SOUTHFIELD 49, NORTH FARMINGTON 7.

Seaholm at 3. Harrison:

The Maples were soundly beaten last week by Adams 34-14. In their two losses Seaholm has only scored 20 points. The Hawks are starting to get their act together since losing to East Kentwood week one heartbreaking style. This is another gut check game for the Maples because if they lose this game then you can kiss the playoffs goodbye.

SAMMY PICK: HARRISON 35, SEAHOLM 14.
ANT PICK:  HARRISON 35, SEAHOLM 14.
KEITH PICK: HARRISON 24, SEAHOLM 3.
DAN PICK: HARRISON 35, SEAHOLM 14.
SEAN PICK: HARRISON 35, SEAHOLM 7.

Farmington at 4. Adams:

The Falcons didn’t look good against Southfield in losing 45-22 last week. The Highlanders just off a loss to Southfield took out its anger and frustration out on Seaholm in a 34-14 win last week especially defensively where Seaholm made mistakes. Farmington needs this game if they want to stay in the White race. The atmosphere favors Adams because Farmington travels to Rochester. Also the hostile environment and the veer offense the Highlanders have. The Falcons have David Reese whom is heading to Ann Arbor next season.

SAMMY PICK: ADAMS 35, FARMINGTON 14.
ANT PICK: ADAMS 28, FARMINGTON 14.
KEITH PICK: ADAMS 17, FARMINGTON 14.
DAN PICK: ADAMS 24, FARMINGTON 21.
SEAN PICK: ADAMS 28, FARMINGTON 21.

Oak Park at Rochester:

The Knights sit at an unusual position, 0-3 and needing to win out to make the playoffs. Coach Greg Carter has never been in this position before at Oak Park. The Knights were shutout 24-0 by Harrison last week. The Falcons lost 22-12 to North Farmington and have averaged 13.5 points per game in the last two games. One team will win this week and get its first win.

SAMMY PICK: OAK PARK 38, ROCHESTER 0.
ANT PICK: OAK PARK 24, ROCHESTER 7.
KEITH PICK: OAK PARK 24, ROCHESTER 6.
DAN PICK:  OAK PARK 24, ROCHESTER 12.
SEAN PICK: OAK PARK 28, ROCHESTER 0.

5. Groves at Pontiac:

The Falcons have been rolling even though they haven’t played the best of schedules with their opponents being a combined 1-8 this season. Groves has only allowed eight points all season and is expected to blow yet another team out again this week. The Phoenix haven’t scored a point this season and was blown out 38-0 by Hazel Park last week. I don’t know what to say but this game is such a mismatch on paper it’s not even funny.

SAMMY PICK: GROVES 56, PONTIAC 0.
ANT PICK: GROVES 63, PONTIAC 0.
KEITH PICK: GROVES 51, PONTIAC 0.
DAN PICK:  GROVES 35, PONTIAC 7.
SEAN PICK: GROVES 42, PONTIAC 0.

7. Avondale at Lathrup:

The Chargers have been disappointing as of late since their big win over Detroit University Prep two weeks ago. Lathrup has only scored seven points in their last two games which is not good. The Yellow Jackets needed a late touchdown to beat Royal Oak. Avondale is an up and down team but going back on the road will help this group because they are still behind the eight ball with their loss to New Boston Huron two weeks ago.

SAMMY PICK: AVONDALE 20, LATHRUP 7.
ANT PICK: AVONDALE 24, LATHRUP 7.
KEITH PICK: AVONDALE 28, LATHRUP 16.
DAN PICK: AVONDALE 20, LATHRUP 7.
SEAN PICK: AVONDALE 24, LATHRUP 7.

Hazel Park at 10. Berkley:

The Bears have won two straight since losing to Holly in week one. Berkley have averaged 27 points per game in that stretch but the competition has been a major question. The Vikings snapped a 24 game losing streak with a 38-0 win over Pontiac. Hazel Park if they want to pull off a major upset, need to play perfect and play mistake free football if they want to go back to 500.

SAMMY PICK: BERKLEY 28, HAZEL PARK 6.
ANT PICK: BERKLEY 28, HAZEL PARK 7.
KEITH PICK: BERKLEY 42, HAZEL PARK 0.
DAN PICK: BERKLEY 24, HAZEL PARK 20.
SEAN PICK: BERKLEY 35, HAZEL PARK 0.

Ferndale at Royal Oak:

The Ravens have finally been competitive in a long time and there is finally some excitement at where Coach Ray McMann has them going. Royal Oak got a huge win at Lathrup two weeks ago only to lose on divine intervention last week against Avondale. The Eagles matched Berkley for a half until they pulled away late. Ferndale needs this game to keep any sort of playoff hopes alive while the Ravens finally can compete in a division where they can win.

SAMMY PICK: ROYAL OAK 20, FERNDALE 12.
ANT PICK: ROYAL OAK 21, FERNDALE 20.
KEITH PICK: ROYAL OAK 24, FERNDALE 10.
DAN PICK: FERNDALE 21, ROYAL OAK 7.
SEAN PICK: ROYAL OAK 28, FERNDALE 7.
