The Phoenix made an interesting football coaching hire.
Pontiac named Ken Wade as their new football coach taking over for Charles White whom coached the team for two seasons.
Wade knows the Pontiac Youth football program really well. He worked with former North Farmington and current Waterford Kettering coach Bob Chiesa when they were at Waterford Mott.
He will have a very difficult task ahead of him at Pontiac. The Phoenix are 5-73 since 2012 which pretty much tells the story.
Pontiac will be in the Blue this season but they have a ton of challenges ahead of them as mentioned especially when it comes to building a program. The Phoenix have a ton of returners coming back especially up front in linemen Letaris Black, Kenau Humphrey, Taveion Etchen, and Marco Gonzales along with proven pass catchers in tight end TaQwon Ringgold, wide receiver/defensive back Daymeion Logan, and linebacker/running back Dequine Logan along with returning quarterback Charles White.
The Phoenix open up the season against Troy Athens and have tough games against Berkley, Ferndale, Bloomfield Hills, Farmington, Avondale, Troy, and Royal Oak. They added Stockbridge as a non-league game.
Wade has some questions that he needs to address with his new program. Does he go maximum overdrive or start from scratch???? It will be interesting to see what happens.
Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest development on this developing story.
