Top Ten Basketball Teams.

Written Wednesday January 11th at 3:20 PM

Happy New Year everyone, here are my top Ten Basketball Teams right now in the OAA.

Girls.

1. Southfield Arts and Tech: The Warriors are peaking right now and have gotten contributions from players not name Deja Church in Cheyenne McEvans and Alexis Johnson.

2. Clarkston: The Big Three of Molly Nicholson, Kayla Luchenbach, and Maddie Beck are making noise again for the Wolves.

3. North Farmington: Sam Cherney and Kierra Crockett will be the key players for the Raiders but if they can get consistent scoring from their guards then look out.

4. Bloomfield Hills: The Blackhawks knocked off the two top challengers in the White and are peaking at the right time even without Kathrine Prinna whom is lost for the season with an ACL injury.

5. Groves: Shea Carter and Kayla Nelson, enough said. Expect the Falcons to dominate the Gold now.

6. Avondale: Olivia Russell is having a special season so far for the Yellow Jackets but can she keep it up against the good competition she will see soon.

7. Royal Oak: Ravens took a bit of a step back against Bloomfield Hills but they should be fine going forward.

8. Seaholm: Maples adjusting to life without Mackenzie Harbort but could she make a return sooner than later???

9. Stoney Creek: The Cougars have lost four of five but they have time and the players to turn things around.

T-10. Orion: The Dragons are struggling right now but they have time and the talent to turn things around very quickly.

T-10. Adams: The Highlanders have lost three of four but they still have a solid player in Maggie Rogers to turn things around.

Teams to Watch: Harrison, West Bloomfield, Oxford, Berkley, Troy Athens, Troy, Hazel Park.

Boys.

1. Clarkston: The Wolves are deep, talented, and possibly East Lansing bound really soon.

2. Hazel Park: With only eight players, how are the Vikings doing this again???

3. Bloomfield Hills: The Blackhawks have won three straight since losing to Orchard Lake St. Marys. Coach Mike Maryanski has turned that team around.

4. West Bloomfield: The Lakers have won four of five, looks like they have turned it around.

5. Troy: Isaiah Smith and Jason Dietz were huge in their win over Groves. They will be key for the Colts going forward.

6. Groves: The Falcons have lost two straight but this is a pretty good basketball team that won’t be down for long.

7. Avondale: Senior heavy talent carrying the Yellow Jackets right now.

8. North Farmington: The Raiders have seemed to get their act together after getting called out by coach Todd Negoshian.

9. Troy Athens: The Red Hawks bounced back against Pontiac after losing two tough games. Troy Athens will be a dangerous team going forward.

T-10. Rochester: Looks like Hunter Schlater took my callout personally on my podcast, 25 points against Lapeer will do it to you.

T-10. Oxford: The Wildcats maybe undefeated for now but they have two tough home games once they enter Blue play.

Teams to Watch: Farmington, Stoney Creek, Orion, Seaholm, Oak Park.

About Me

My photo
I have highest function of autism (Asperger Syndrome.) I'm a huge Dallas Stars fan. I like to play and watch football, especially when the Dragons play on Friday nights. I am a 2006 alum and used to play football for the Dragons. I ran track, I ran the 100, 200, 400 meter dashes along with shot-put and discus. During my time in Orion I was a manager for Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team. I'm the volleyball, girls basketball, and football announcer for the team and do the book on the road for girls basketball. I do the clock for volleyball in the fall along with girls basketball in the winter and announce some boys basketball games as well. In the spring I coach shot-put at Scripps Middle School, in my fifth season coaching. I run the shot-put for high school meets. I played Special Olympics Basketball, I've won three gold medals for them. I host "Between Taorminas" which is on ONTV along with a podcast called "OAA Now". In other various things outside of Lake Orion, I love to jet ski over Saginaw Bay. Saginaw Bay is basically my life. I'm a trained weather spotter for the National Weather Service for Oakland and Huron counties.
