Week Six Thoughts.

Written Saturday October 24th at 1:15 AM

I’m very disappointed in North Farmington. The Raiders ended up taking a forfeit against Seaholm on Friday night because of a power outage. Lake Orion and Adams had a similar situation last season where there was a power outage and the game got moved to Saturday. North Farmington could have played the Maples on Saturday. Seaholm offered to play the game at their place but the Raiders declined to play that game. I feel really bad for the kids on both sides and Coach Jim DeWald. This was a move made by North Farmington’s administration and I’m very disappointed. North Farmington will be tested next week when they play Waterford Kettering, they are fortunate to have a home game because they were passed by South Lyon and Walled Lake Western. The Maples earned the top seed in their district and they will have a pre-district rematch with Sterling Heights. This will be interesting to see what happens.

Stoney Creek got a measure of revenge on Groves by blowing them out 40-14 on Friday night at home. The Cougars will get an unexpected bye in the district but they will await either Chippewa Valley or Utica Eisenhower in the next round. I don’t know how Coach Nick Merlo is going to keep his team motivated knowing that they have a bye with Utica dropping out of the postseason but he’ll think of something. The Falcons lost home field for the postseason as we’ll see with what happened at Bloomfield Hills.

Adams had no problem with Farmington on Friday night winning 20-6. The Highlanders have had a rough season but playing a rival in the postseason might stir wonders. Adams could be the favorite heading into their next week game at Rochester. The Falcons are in a whole world of trouble having to go to Runkel Field next week to take on Sterling Heights Stevenson who had to survive on Friday night over Utica Ford II winning 28-25.

Ferndale finished the season strong with a 42-8 victory over Pontiac at Wisner Stadium. The Eagles finished the regular season with a 4-2 record but a 4-1 record in the Blue. A ton of accomplishments for Coach Eric Royal. Ferndale has to address their non-league issues which has hurt their program and that starts with Detroit Renaissance at home next week. The Phoenix have a chance next week when they go up to Bay City Central. Pontiac plays in a much tougher league so that’s why they have a great chance to do wonders.

“That School Down The Road” has won the last three meetings by a combined 104-0 including a 31-0 blowout over city rival Troy on Friday night. However the win for the Red Hawks means that they will head to Southfield next week which is real bad. The Colts will head to Bloomfield Hills to play the Blackhawks.

Royal Oak was competitive on Friday night with Fraser but it was the Ramblers who came out with a 34-24 victory. The Ravens have been struggling but they proved they were competitive as mentioned. Royal Oak has a huge game looming next week when they get to see their arch rivals at Hurley Field.

Rochester won their first league title in a long while and earned their first 6-0 record since 1993 so their reward is a home game against arch rival Adams. The Falcons won 33-7 on Friday night over Berkley at Hurley Field. Rochester hasn’t beat Adams since 1996. The Bears really struggled against Rochester. They do have a rivalry game looming which should excite the community when they play Royal Oak.

Bloomfield Hills were the media darlings last week thanks to Sara Hudson’s winning extra point to beat Berkley but the Blackhawks got destroyed by Avondale 37-9 on Friday night. The Yellow Jackets are on fire lately and they earned a home game with Groves coming in next week to Dick Bye Field. Bloomfield Hills will host Troy next week.

Lake Orion has a ton of problems offensively and their defense was worn out on Friday night but one controversial call changed everything in their 28-0 loss to West Bloomfield at the Swamp. The Dragons need to fix some things and quick on that side of the football. Lake Orion has to go to Grand Blanc next week. The Lakers host Utica Ford II next week in the Swamp.

Clarkston had no problems with Oak Park winning 47-0 on Friday night. The Wolves revenge tour is basically complete. They will take on Oxford next week. The Knights have a very tough game looming when they head to Grosse Pointe South to take on a very good Blue Devils team.

I don’t know what to say about Oxford, three points in three games, ouch. The Wildcats lost 21-0 to Southfield Arts and Tech on Friday night. Oxford got sentenced when they head to Clarkston next week in the postseason. The Warriors earned a home game with Troy Athens in the postseason despite their record at 2-3 on the season.

About Me

My photo
I have highest function of autism (Asperger Syndrome.) I'm a huge Dallas Stars fan. I like to play and watch football, especially when the Dragons play on Friday nights. I am a 2006 alum and used to play football for the Dragons. I ran track, I ran the 100, 200, 400 meter dashes along with shot-put and discus. During my time in Orion I was a manager for Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team. I'm the volleyball, girls basketball, and football announcer for the team and do the book on the road for girls basketball. I do the clock for volleyball in the fall along with girls basketball in the winter and announce some boys basketball games as well. In the spring I coach shot-put at Scripps Middle School, in my fifth season coaching. I run the shot-put for high school meets. I played Special Olympics Basketball, I've won three gold medals for them. I host "Between Taorminas" which is on ONTV along with a podcast called "OAA Now". In other various things outside of Lake Orion, I love to jet ski over Saginaw Bay. Saginaw Bay is basically my life. I'm a trained weather spotter for the National Weather Service for Oakland and Huron counties.
