Wrestling and Cheerleading Districts are Out.

Written Saturday December 21st at 10:30 AM

Here is my thoughts and insight on the wrestling team and cheerleading districts.

Cheerleading Districts

District 4 at Adams

ADAMS
ROCHESTER
STONEY CREEK
BERKLEY
BIRMINGHAM
FARMINGTON
BLOOMFIELD HILLS
ROYAL OAK
SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH
TROY
TROY ATHENS
Livonia Stevenson
Utica
Utica Eisenhower

WHO I SEE MOVING ON. Adams, Rochester, Stoney Creek, Troy Athens.

THOUGHT: This is a tough district with some solid teams in here but the three Rochester schools and Troy Athens have been there and done that.

District 5 at Brighton

CLARKSTON
WEST BLOOMFIELD
NORTH FARMINGTON
Waterford Kettering
Waterford Mott
Brighton
Hartland
Howell
Milford
Lakeland
Novi
Northville
Walled Lake Central
Walled Lake Northern

WHO I SEE MOVING ON: Brighton, Howell, Hartland, Clarkston.

THOUGHT: This is a tough district when looking at the OAA squads. West Bloomfield went last season but I don’t know if they have enough especially with the three Livingston County schools in this district.

District 6 at Grand Blanc

LAKE ORION
OXFORD
Grand Blanc
Lapeer
Romeo
Davison
Flint Carman Ainsworth
Flushing
Midland
Midland Dow
Port Huron
Port Huron Northern
Saginaw Heritage
Traverse City West

WHO I SEE MOVING ON: Grand Blanc, Lake Orion, Oxford, Romeo.

THOUGHT: This is not a strong district as the top two teams are Grand Blanc and Lake Orion. It’s those two and everyone else.

District 9 at Allen Park

AVONDALE
OAK PARK
Allen Park
Dearborn Divine Child
Eastpointe
Lamphere
Lincoln Park
Marysville
Melvindale
River Rouge
Walled Lake Western
Roseville
Warren Woods Tower
St. Clair
St. Clair Shores Lake Shore

WHO I SEE MOVING ON: Walled Lake Western, Avondale, Marysville, Allen Park.

THOUGHT: This is not a strong district but I see Avondale having a strong showing. The Yellow Jackets are a team to watch.

Wrestling Team Districts

Division 1- Feb 12th

102-1 at Romeo

OXFORD
Port Huron
Port Huron Northern
Romeo

THOUGHT: This district looks to be Oxford’s written all over it.

105-1 at Lake Orion

CLARKSTON
LAKE ORION
Waterford Kettering
Waterford Mott

THOUGHT: The Wolves are the early favorite but watch for Lake Orion and Waterford Kettering.

106-1 at Royal Oak

ROYAL OAK
TROY
TROY ATHENS
Warren Mott

THOUGHT: This is an odd district. Watch for Troy in this district.

107-1 at Adams

ROCHESTER
ADAMS
STONEY CREEK
Utica Eisenhower

THOUGHT: Watch for Adams to make some noise but Rochester and Stoney Creek will have strong says.

118-1 at Livonia Franklin

FARMINGTON
Livonia Franklin
Livonia Churchill
Livonia Stevenson

THOUGHT: It’s going to be tough for Farmington to win this district especially with Livonia Franklin and Livonia Churchill.

126-1 at Groves

GROVES
SEAHOLM
BLOOMFIELD HILLS
Birmingham Brother Rice

THOUGHT: This district could be one of the most competitive in the area.

127-1 at Walled Lake Western

NORTH FARMINGTON
WEST BLOOMFIELD
Walled Lake Western
Walled Lake Central

THOUGHT: West Bloomfield should be the early favorite but watch for North Farmington.

128-1 at Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit

BERKLEY
SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH
Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit

THOUGHT: I like the Warriors to pull through in this district.

Division 2- February 13th

140-2 at Brandon

PONTIAC
Holly
Brandon
Pontiac Notre Dame Prep

THOUGHT: Pontiac is not the deepest team but they have just enough to win this district.

162-2 at Lamphere

AVONDALE
Lamphere
Hazel Park
Warren Fitzgerald

THOUGHT: Avondale has a tougher schedule but watch for Lamphere to give Yellow Jackets everything they can handle.

163-2 at Redford Union

FERNDALE
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s
Redford Thurston
Redford Union

THOUGHT: Orchard Lake St. Marys is solid but Ferndale will seriously challenge them.

About Me

My photo
I have highest function of autism (Asperger Syndrome.) I'm a huge Dallas Stars fan. I like to play and watch football, especially when the Dragons play on Friday nights. I am a 2006 alum and used to play football for the Dragons. I ran track, I ran the 100, 200, 400 meter dashes along with shot-put and discus. During my time in Orion I was a manager for Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team. I'm the volleyball, girls basketball, and football announcer for the team and do the book on the road for girls basketball. I do the clock for volleyball in the fall along with girls basketball in the winter and announce some boys basketball games as well. In the spring I coach shot-put at Scripps Middle School, in my fifth season coaching. I run the shot-put for high school meets. I played Special Olympics Basketball, I've won three gold medals for them. I host "Between Taorminas" which is on ONTV along with a podcast called "OAA Now". In other various things outside of Lake Orion, I love to jet ski over Saginaw Bay. Saginaw Bay is basically my life. I'm a trained weather spotter for the National Weather Service for Oakland and Huron counties.
