Here is my early thoughts on the Hockey Regionals affected the OAA. Locations haven't been named yet. Will be updated when they come out.

Hockey Regionals (Regions 1-8 is Division One while is 9-16 is Division Two)

Region 5

CLARKSTON
OXFORD-AVONDALE
Brighton
Grand Blanc
Howell
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s
Waterford

Early Thoughts: I think this regional will be very interesting. I’m keeping an eye on four teams in Clarkston, Brighton, Orchard Lake St. Marys, and Howell. The Eaglets are the early favorite but the Bulldogs, Wolves, and Highlanders are right in the mix.

Region 6

ROCHESTER UNITED
Macomb Dakota
Macomb L’Anse Creuse
Port Huron
Utica
Utica Eisenhower

Early Thoughts: I think this regional will be very interesting. I’m keeping an eye on three teams in Rochester United, Utica Eisenhower, and Macomb Dakota. The Eagles are the early favorite but the Cougars are a rival to Utica Eisenhower and there is Rochester United in there as well.

Region 7

BERKLEY-FERNDALE
BIRMINGHAM
FARMINGTON
TROY UNITED
St. Clair Shores Lakeview
Novi Detroit Catholic Central

Early Thoughts: This regional looks very interesting. I’m keeping a close eye on Novi Detroit Catholic Central although Troy United, Birmingham, and Farmington are going to be tough challengers against the Shamrocks.

Region 13

LAKE ORION
BLOOMFIELD HILLS
WEST BLOOMFIELD
Birmingham Brother Rice
Walled Lake
White Lake

Early Thoughts: This regional looks to be interesting on paper. I’m keeping an eye on a possible Lake Orion vs Birmingham Brother Rice clash. Clearly these teams are the two best in the region and are ranked in the State in Division Two.

Region 14

STONEY CREEK
Chippewa Valley
Romeo
Marysville
New Baltimore Anchor Bay
Port Huron Northern
Ubly

Early Thoughts: This is a wide open regional on paper. I can see Stoney Creek being the favorites in this regional but there are several teams to watch like Port Huron Northern but right now this looks like it’s the Cougars to lose.

Bowling Regionals

Region 2 at Grand Blanc

CLARKSTON
LAKE ORION
OXFORD
Lapeer
Grand Blanc
Davison
Flint Carman Ainsworth
Flushing
Grand Ledge
Holt
Lansing Eastern
Midland
Midland Dow
Saginaw
Saginaw Heritage
Swartz Creek

Boys: The favorite has to be Oxford because of proven experience although Flushing, Lapeer, Midland, and Davison will have strong says in this regional.

Girls: The favorite has to be Oxford although Lake Orion is right there and Flushing is a dark horse to watch for.

Region 3 at Waterford Kettering

BLOOMFIELD HILLS
FARMINGTON
NORTH FARMINGTON
Brighton
Farmington Hills Mercy
Novi Detroit Catholic Central
Hartland
Howell
Milford
Waterford Kettering
Waterford Mott
Lakeland
South Lyon
Novi
Walled Lake Central
Walled Lake Western
Walled Lake Northern

Boys: The favorite has to be Walled Lake Central because they have experience back but Waterford Kettering will be in the mix.

Girls: This is a wide open regional but the early favorite has to be South Lyon with whom they have back.

Region 6 at Brownstown Woodhaven

BIRMINGHAM
ROYAL OAK
TROY
TROY ATHENS
Brownstown Woodhaven
Dearborn
Dearborn Edsel Ford
Dearborn Crestwood
Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit
Monroe
Lincoln Park
Taylor
Temperance Bedford
Warren Cousino
Warren Mott
Warren De LaSalle
Wyandotte Roosevelt

Boys: Taylor is the favorite to come out of this regional although watch for Warren De LaSalle. They could play spoiler.

Girls: Watch for Monroe, the Trojans could make some noise in this regional despite Taylor being the favorite to win this regional.

Region 11 at Birmingham Marian

AVONDALE
FERNDALE
Birmingham Marian
Center Line
Birmingham Detroit Country Day
Hazel Park
Eastpointe
Marysville
Orchard Lake St. Mary’s
Pontiac Notre Dame Prep
Pinckney
Redford Union
South Lyon East
Warren Fitzgerald
Warren Woods Tower

Boys: The favorite has to be Marysville although South Lyon East and Warren Woods Tower will have strong says as well.

Girls: This is a loaded regional with some solid bowling powers in South Lyon East, Warren Fitzgerald, and Pontiac Notre Dame Prep. Whoever wins this regional will have a strong say in the State Finals.

Skiing Regionals

Region 2 at Clarkston

CLARKSTON
LAKE ORION
OXFORD-HOLLY
BIRMINGHAM
BLOOMFIELD HILLS
ROCHESTER
ADAMS
STONEY CREEK
TROY UNITED
WEST BLOOMFIELD
Waterford
Grand Blanc
Fenton/Lake Fenton/Linden

Boys: This is a loaded regional with four teams that were top ten in the State last season. Clarkston has to be the favorite followed by Birmingham, Lake Orion, and Bloomfield Hills.

Girls: The favorite has to be Clarkston with who they have back but Birmingham is expected to challenge for this regional along with Fenton/Lake Fenton/Linden. It will be very interesting to say the least.

Region 3 at Hartland

FARMINGTON UNITED
Brighton
Novi Detroit Catholic Central
Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit
Farmington Hills Mercy
Hartland
Howell
Milford
Lakeland
Northville
Novi
Saline
Walled Lake Northern/Walled Lake Western
Walled Lake Central
South Lyon

Boys: The favorite has to be Hartland but Brighton will have a strong say who wins this regional and Milford could be a player as well.

Girls: The favorite has to be Milford but Lakeland and Brighton should make some noise in this regional.

About Me

My photo
I have highest function of autism (Asperger Syndrome.) I'm a huge Dallas Stars fan. I like to play and watch football, especially when the Dragons play on Friday nights. I am a 2006 alum and used to play football for the Dragons. I ran track, I ran the 100, 200, 400 meter dashes along with shot-put and discus. During my time in Orion I was a manager for Junior Varsity Boys Basketball team. I'm the volleyball, girls basketball, and football announcer for the team and do the book on the road for girls basketball. I do the clock for volleyball in the fall along with girls basketball in the winter and announce some boys basketball games as well. In the spring I coach shot-put at Scripps Middle School, in my fifth season coaching. I run the shot-put for high school meets. I played Special Olympics Basketball, I've won three gold medals for them. I host "Between Taorminas" which is on ONTV along with a podcast called "OAA Now". In other various things outside of Lake Orion, I love to jet ski over Saginaw Bay. Saginaw Bay is basically my life. I'm a trained weather spotter for the National Weather Service for Oakland and Huron counties.
