Written Monday September 12th at 11:30 PM

SAMMY 39-18
ANT 36-21
KEITH 40-17
SEAN 38-19
DAN 36-21
BURNEY 43-15

North Farmington @ 1. Groves:

The Falcons have been playing such a murderous row of a schedule lately may finally get a breather for a game in the Raiders. North Farmington has struggled especially defensibly where they have already given up 127 points so far this season. Groves has been tested but they likely won’t get much of a test this week.

SAMMY PICK: GROVES 48, NORTH FARMINGTON 0.
ANT PICK: GROVES 35, NORTH FARMINGTON 0.
KEITH PICK: GROVES 45, NORTH FARMINGTON 10.
DAN PICK: GROVES 34, NORTH FARMINGTON 10.
SEAN PICK: GROVES 42, NORTH FARMINGTON 0.
BURNEY PICK: GROVES 33, NORTH FARMINGTON 20.

Pontiac Notre Dame Prep @ 2. Berkley:

The Irish suffered a disappointing loss to Rochester 38-32 in overtime last week but they will now go to Hurley Field to take on the Bears. Berkley has been on a tear this season as well since surviving Holly 29-26 two weeks ago. This will be a test for the Bears as Pontiac Notre Dame Prep could be the best opponent since Holly for Berkley.

SAMMY PICK: BERKLEY 35, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 31.
ANT PICK: BERKLEY 35, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 28.
KEITH PICK: BERKLEY 31, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 10.
DAN PICK: BERKLEY 28, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 21.
SEAN PICK: BERKLEY 35, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 28
BURNEY PICK: BERKLEY 30, PONTIAC NOTRE DAME PREP 24.

9. Ferndale @ 3. Bloomfield Hills:

Whomever has been ranked nine in the poll have not fared well this season with a 1-2 record with Oxford being ranked ninth the last two weeks. This will be the second ninth vs third ranked team in the poll this season (Groves vs West Bloomfield-Week One.) The Eagles are improved with the addition of the MHSAA Co-OP program with Ferndale University because of the lack of numbers. Ferndale has leaned on its rushing attack to carry them to their two wins. They will be tested as they travel to Bloomfield Hills to take on the Blackhawks. Bloomfield Hills has been on a tear lately winning three straight but like I said with them October will be their major test but the Blackhawks better be careful of the Eagles.

SAMMY PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 21, FERNDALE 14.
ANT PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 35, FERNDALE 14.
KEITH PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 21, FERNDALE 6.
DAN PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 35, FERNDALE 21.
SEAN PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 35, FERNDALE 12.
BURNEY PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 29, FERNDALE 22.

10. Oak Park @ 4. Adams:

This week is statement week for the Highlanders to see if they are a contender or a pretender. Adams has played a relatively easy schedule but they have not fared well with the Knights lately whether in Oak Park or in Rochester Hills. The Highlanders are 0-4 vs Oak Park since 2012, the year after coach Greg Carter got to Knight Valley and turned the program around. Oak Park bounced back in a big way by blowing out Farmington 42-0 last week. The Knights though to their defense have played a murderous row schedule with Detroit Cass Tech early in the season and Groves. It’s time to see what coach Tony Patrino’s Highlanders are made of against Oak Park.

SAMMY PICK: OAK PARK 28, ADAMS 14.
ANT PICK: OAK PARK 24, ADAMS 21.
KEITH PICK: OAK PARK 31, ADAMS 16.
DAN PICK: ADAMS 21, OAK PARK 20.
SEAN PICK: OAK PARK 26, ADAMS 21.
BURNEY PICK: ADAMS 28, OAK PARK 27.

6. West Bloomfield @ 5. Harrison:

This could be the best league matchup this week bringing a rematch to Farmington Hills. The Lakers and Hawks had a classic week nine when Tristian Jackson scored on a punt return to beat Harrison 20-17 last season. West Bloomfield looked good against Orion scoring 37 points. The Hawks have been rolling lately since losing to East Kentwood two weeks ago. This will be a good matchup both teams have good quarterbacks, good running backs, and good athletes all over the field.

SAMMY PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 28, HARRISON 23.
ANT PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 35, HARRISON 24.
KEITH PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 24, HARRISON 21.
DAN PICK: HARRISON 28, WEST BLOOMFIELD 21.
SEAN PICK: HARRISON 28, WEST BLOOMFIELD 21.
BURNEY PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 27, HARRISON 26.

7. Southfield A&T @ Troy Athens:

The Red Hawks have been very disappointing this season, some media experts have them better than they have shown. Troy Athens was blown out 35-7 last week by Stoney Creek and had to survive North Farmington 14-7 two weeks ago. The Red Hawks have lost three of four games coming into this week. Troy Athens now host a team that has underachieved in the Warriors. Southfield Arts and Tech lost 13-7 to Groves last week. This will be an interesting matchup but on paper the Warriors are a better team here.

SAMMY PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 20, TROY ATHENS 3.
ANT PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 21, TROY ATHENS 10.
KEITH PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 35, TROY ATHENS 17.
DAN PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 27, TROY ATHENS 21.
SEAN PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 42, TROY ATHENS 7.
BURNEY PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 31, TROY ATHENS 21.

8. Clarkston @ Stoney Creek:

The Cougars got their first win under coach Bob Lantzy when they destroyed Troy Athens 35-7 last week. Now Stoney Creek will get a big test when the Wolves comes a calling to Rochester. Clarkston destroyed Oxford 38-7 last week. This matchup looks to be a mismatch on paper but it looks to be interesting if the Cougars show up.

SAMMY PICK: CLARKSTON 28, STONEY CREEK 21.
ANT PICK: CLARKSTON 35, STONEY CREEK 7.
KEITH PICK: CLARKSTON 42, STONEY CREEK 0.
DAN PICK: CLARKSTON 35, STONEY CREEK 14.
SEAN PICK: CLARKSTON 45, STONEY CREEK 7.
BURNEY PICK: CLARKSTON 35, STONEY CREEK 14.

Oxford @ Orion:

Both teams took it to the chin last week but this Double O Trophy matchup will be interesting since this is Orion’s Pink Game and the last time they had this game, they lost to Stoney Creek 21-14 last season. The Dragons haven’t been healthy but could get back two key players that missed last week’s 37-7 loss to West Bloomfield. The Wildcats feature a great rushing attack led by Ethan Williams and a good quarterback in Parker Fleming whom were both huge against Romeo and West Bloomfield. Orion’s defense though is better equipped for this type of offense. Turnovers have plagued the Dragons especially fumbles deep in opposing territory. It's hard to trust Orion's ball handlers these days especially with how plagued the fumbles have been. I can’t trust Oxford’s defense because they have allowed a ton of points in their last three games. This one could go down to the wire though.

SAMMY PICK: ORION 35, OXFORD 21.
ANT PICK: ORION 27, OXFORD 14.
KEITH PICK: OXFORD 21, ORION 17.
DAN PICK: ORION 28, OXFORD 24.
SEAN PICK: OXFORD 27, ORION 14.
BURNEY PICK: OXFORD 25, ORION 24.

Farmington @ Seaholm:

The Falcons have only scored 28 points this season, which their record says 0-3 and they have lost five straight games. The Maples have only scored 10 points, which their record says 0-3 this season and is 1-6 in their last seven games. Farmington has played a brutal schedule (Walled Lake Western, Harrison, Oak Park) but so has Seaholm (Brother Rice, Adams, Harrison.) This game is in the Maple Forest it’s a place where the Falcons struggle at, so go with the home team folks.

SAMMY PICK: SEAHOLM 28, FARMINGTON 0.
ANT PICK: SEAHOLM 14, FARMINGTON 13.
KEITH PICK: FARMINGTON 28, SEAHOLM 7.
DAN PICK: FARMINGTON 20, SEAHOLM 17.
SEAN PICK: SEAHOLM 21, FARMINGTON 12.
BURNEY PICK: FARMINGTON 17, SEAHOLM 14.

Troy @ Royal Oak:

This border rivalry is renewed for the first time since 2014 where the Colts destroyed the Ravens 50-14 at Royal Oak. What has changed is that the Ravens have a new coaching staff in coach Ray McMann that is changing the culture but they have been struggling with expectations as since 2015, Royal Oak is 1-7 against teams not named Lathrup, Pontiac, or Hazel Park. The Ravens have done well against the former Chargers, Phoenix, and Vikings. Troy is 5-25 since 2013, something that they need to change if they want to turn it around. The Colts do not have a freshman team which is really unusual for a big school like Troy High is. The Colts are 5-0 all-time against the Ravens so when looking at the stats, you can’t lie where this is going.

SAMMY PICK: TROY 28, ROYAL OAK 14.
ANT PICK: TROY 21, ROYAL OAK 20.
KEITH PICK: TROY 24, ROYAL OAK 10.
DAN PICK: TROY 17, ROYAL OAK 10.
SEAN PICK: TROY 21, ROYAL OAK 14.
BURNEY PICK: ROYAL OAK 30, TROY 23.

Rochester @ Avondale:

The Falcons may have finally turned the corner a bit after losing two games by beating Pontiac Notre Dame Prep in overtime 38-32. Rochester whom is 3-18 since 2014 now goes to Auburn Hills to face a Yellow Jackets team that has really struggled with the coaching change and offensive ideology where they have only scored 33 points. Avondale lost 33-15 to Ferndale last week and is coming losers of four straight games. When looking at this matchup, this does not favor the Yellow Jackets.

SAMMY PICK: ROCHESTER 35, AVONDALE 14.
ANT PICK: ROCHESTER 28, AVONDALE 14.
KEITH PICK: ROCHESTER 27, AVONDALE 13.
DAN PICK:  ROCHESTER 31, AVONDALE 10.
SEAN PICK: ROCHESTER 35, AVONDALE 20.
BURNEY PICK: ROCHESTER 28, AVONDALE 20.

Pontiac @ Hazel Park:

Well both the Vikings and Phoenix have had tough starts to their seasons so far. Both teams are 0-3 but one team has had a close contest with two blowout losses while the other team has had three blowout losses. Hazel Park is 1-29 since 2012 and is riding a nine game losing streak but their only win was a 38-0 victory over Pontiac at home last season. The Phoenix are 2-36 since 2011 and is coming in with a 17 game losing streak. I think Pontiac is better than their record indicates. It could be a different outcome this week.

SAMMY PICK: PONTIAC 18, HAZEL PARK 12.
ANT PICK: HAZEL PARK 14, PONTIAC 6.
KEITH PICK: HAZEL PARK 17, PONTIAC 7.
DAN PICK: HAZEL PARK 28, PONTIAC 21.
SEAN PICK: HAZEL PARK 20, PONTIAC 6.
BURNEY PICK: HAZEL PARK 18, PONTIAC 17.
