It looks like Rochester is going a different direction with their boys basketball program.
The Falcons decided not to retain Coach Vance Kirkwood confirmed by multiple sources.
Kirkwood led Rochester to a share of the Blue in the 2017-2018 season. The Falcons really struggled after that season however they won the Gold last season giving the program new life.
Rochester is expected to have a veteran team next season. They have Matt Stone, Louis Bowes, Armann Hussani, Preyston Schroeder, Connor Craium, Jeff Hawkins, and Gabe Mendoza coming back next season. Program strength also seems to be on the rise there as well.
This is going to be very interesting situation to keep an eye on for sure.
Thoughts.
I was shocked that Kirkwood was let go at Rochester. The Falcons won the Gold last season and was on the way up. They will be in the Blue next season. Rochester could look at Nick Evola as their possible next coach. Evola teaches at Rochester and formerly coached at Warren Woods Tower. He is well known in the Rochester School District.
Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
Here is the job posting from Rochester.
