Playoffs Second Round Picks.

Written Tuesday November 3rd at 1:00 PM

Here are picks for the second week of the playoffs. I will have the podcast posted and hopefully get Ian's picks as soon as I can.

SANDY DUNES: 61-19

LOCKE: 53-27

DUNLAP: 60-20

BURNEY: 59-21

STICK: 59-21

COTTER: 68-12

Grand Blanc at Clarkston: This is shaping up to be a very interesting game at Clarkston with both teams having different styles. The Wolves really struggled with Oxford winning 21-7 last week. The Bobcats on two trick plays and a bad snap beat Lake Orion 28-14 last week. Grand Blanc brings a very strong passing attack to the fold. It should test Clarkston’s secondary. The Bobcats will see the best line they have seen all year in the Wolves. It’s looking like it is going to be very interesting in the Wolves Den as mentioned.

SANDY DUNES PICK: CLARKSTON 28, GRAND BLANC 14.

LOCKE PICK: CLARKSTON over GRAND BLANC.

DUNLAP PICK: CLARKSTON 24, GRAND BLANC 16.

BURNEY PICK: CLARKSTON 31, GRAND BLANC 29.

STICK PICK: CLARKSTON 28, GRAND BLANC 14.

COTTER PICK: CLARKSTON 24, GRAND BLANC 14.

Adams at Davison: The Highlanders have had a rough season but they have won two straight including last week’s 39-7 blowout over Rochester. Adams will head to Davison and play the defending Division One State Champions and their quarterback Brendan Sullivan. The game is also on grass which will not favor Adams. The Cardinals have not seeing a veer offense like the ones they will see in this game. The Highlanders are very young which could be problematic against a veteran heavy team like Davison.

SANDY DUNES PICK: DAVISON 35, ADAMS 14.

LOCKE PICK: DAVISON over ADAMS.

DUNLAP PICK: DAVISON 31, ADAMS 14.

BURNEY PICK: DAVISON 28, ADAMS 22.

STICK PICK: DAVISON 21, ADAMS 14.

COTTER PICK: DAVISON 35, ADAMS 0.

Chippewa Valley at Stoney Creek: The Cougars had a week off after having their first ever undefeated season. This will be the first ever meeting with Chippewa Valley. The Big Reds play in the MAC Red and they are well coached. Chippewa Valley can be two different teams as mentioned last week against Utica Eisenhower. They trailed 14-0 in the first half but answered back with 21 straight points which resulted in a stunning 21-14 victory over the Eagles. This is going to be a very interesting game. Stoney Creek is being disrespected coming into this game which they have been all season long. Time to prove that the Cougars are for real this week.

SANDY DUNES PICK: STONEY CREEK 31, CHIPPEWA VALLEY 17.

LOCKE PICK: STONEY CREEK over CHIPPEWA VALLEY.

DUNLAP PICK: STONEY CREEK 28, CHIPPEWA VALLEY 24.

BURNEY PICK: STONEY CREEK 30, CHIPPEWA VALLEY 27.

STICK PICK: STONEY CREEK 35, CHIPPEWA VALLEY 14.

COTTER PICK: STONEY CREEK 24, CHIPPEWA VALLEY 21.

Troy at West Bloomfield: The Lakers are coming into this game with four straight shutouts all in the Swamp. They recently shut out Utica Ford 42-0 last week. The Colts are coming off a 29-14 upset at Bloomfield Hills last week. This is a clear mismatch on paper and it’s in the Swamp. Everything is stacked against Troy this week.

SANDY DUNES PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 77, TROY 0.

LOCKE PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD over TROY.

DUNLAP PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 42, TROY 0.

BURNEY PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 35, TROY 15.

STICK PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 35, TROY 15.

COTTER PICK: WEST BLOOMFIELD 56, TROY 0.

Southfield Arts and Tech at Sterling Heights Stevenson: The Warriors sent a huge statement by blowing out Troy Athens 62-6 last week. Southfield Arts and Tech should provide Sterling Heights Stevenson a huge challenge. The Titans had no problem with Farmington last week winning 41-15 at Runkel Field. Could the OAA Red get another win over the MAC Red like what happened with Oak Park last week??? It’s possible.

SANDY DUNES PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 28, STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 24.

LOCKE PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH over STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON.

DUNLAP PICK: STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 23, SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 20.

BURNEY PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 23, STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 20.

STICK PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 28, STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 21.

COTTER PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 28, STERLING HEIGHTS STEVENSON 21.

North Farmington at Fenton: This is the first meeting between the Raiders and the Tigers which will take place in Genesee County. The North Farmington coaching staff is very familiar with Fenton since their days at Harrison. The Raiders came off a 44-7 blowout over Waterford Kettering at Tom Holland Field last week. The Tigers are unbeaten this season coming off a Flint Metro League title after beating Brandon two weeks ago at home. Fenton won 36-3 over Walled Lake Central at home last week. This will be the Tigers toughest opponent they have seen this season. It is shaping up to be a very interesting game.

SANDY DUNES PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 24, FENTON 14.

LOCKE PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON over FENTON.

DUNLAP PICK: FENTON 21, NORTH FARMINGTON 20.

BURNEY PICK: FENTON 38, NORTH FARMINGTON 33.

STICK PICK: FENTON 28, NORTH FARMINGTON 21.

COTTER PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 28, FENTON 14.

Groves at Seaholm: The Battle of Birmingham Part Two takes place but it’s in the Maple Forest not in Beverly Hills. Groves has had a ton of success against Seaholm away from Beverly Hills in the past. The Maples behind quarterback and defensive back Caleb Knoer made what was called "the play of the year." He forced a fumble from Falcons receiver Jaden Mangham in a 21-21 game in Beverly Hills a few weeks ago in which the football went into the end-zone for a touch-back. That touch-back changed the game which resulted in a 35-28 Seaholm victory over Groves. Seaholm has won two straight meetings over their arch rivals from Beverly Hills. The Falcons have been waiting for three weeks to get revenge against the Maples. Groves beat Avondale 36-0 last week. Seaholm beat Sterling Heights 42-6 last week. This should be a fun game to watch.

SANDY DUNES PICK: SEAHOLM 42, GROVES 35.

LOCKE PICK: SEAHOLM over GROVES.

DUNLAP PICK: GROVES 28, SEAHOLM 27.

BURNEY PICK: SEAHOLM 34, GROVES 32.

STICK PICK: SEAHOLM 27, GROVES 21.

COTTER PICK: SEAHOLM 42, GROVES 28.

Oak Park at Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit: This is going to be the third meeting between the Knights and the Cubs but they are no strangers to each other. Oak Park won 26-17 in 2016 which was the last meeting between these two neighborhood rivals despite in school that's in Oakland County while the other is in Wayne County. Both of these schools are separated by just four miles between Coolidge Highway and Eight Mile Road (M-102.) The Knights pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the State by going into Grosse Pointe South and winning 35-27 over the Blue Devils last week. Oak Park is the most dangerous team in this district when healthy. The Knights were not healthy which resulted in six losses to very good teams (five in the Red and one in the White.) Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit has had to overcome some injuries and inconsistencies which has resulted in a up and down season but they have scored 28 points in two straight weeks which has resulted in two straight wins. The Cubs won 28-14 victory at Grosse Pointe North last week. This is shaping up to be a very interesting game at Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit.

SANDY DUNES PICK: OAK PARK 35, U-D JESUIT 21.

LOCKE PICK: OAK PARK over U-D JESUIT.

DUNLAP PICK: OAK PARK 21, U-D JESUIT 17.

BURNEY PICK: OAK PARK 25, U-D JESUIT 18.

STICK PICK: OAK PARK 21, U-D JESUIT 14.

COTTER PICK: OAK PARK 32, U-D JESUIT 14.

Berkley at Warren Mott: This is shaping up to be a very interesting game in Warren. The Marauders are coming off a 47-0 blowout of arch rival Warren Cousino last week. This is the first meeting between the two teams. The Bears snapped a two game losing streak by beating Royal Oak 23-14 at Hurley Field last week. Warren Mott was second in the MAC White behind New Baltimore Anchor Bay in the standings this season. They are athletic, balanced, well coached, and battled tested. The Marauders have won four games by four points or less this season. Berkley lacks playoff experience but they have been battle tested as well. This is shaping up to be a very interesting game as mentioned.

SANDY DUNES PICK: BERKLEY 24, WARREN MOTT 14.

LOCKE PICK: WARREN MOTT over BERKLEY.

DUNLAP PICK: BERKLEY 24, WARREN MOTT 17.

BURNEY PICK: BERKLEY 36, WARREN MOTT 29.

STICK PICK: WARREN MOTT 21, BERKLEY 14.

COTTER PICK: WARREN MOTT 21, BERKLEY 13.
