BIG WIN AND TEAM THAT MADE A STATEMENT: Oak Park: The Knights, the Knights, are you kidding me. Oak Park winless in the Red, basically beaten up by Clarkston, Lake Orion, Oxford, Southfield Arts and Tech, and West Bloomfield goes into Grosse Pointe and trailed 19-6 at one point to stun Grosse Pointe South 35-27 on Friday night. The Knights looked like a complete different team. James Burnley had two passing touchdowns and Oak Park also scored a fake punt as well. What does this say about the Knights and the OAA Red in general, my god. I owe this an apology. I don’t even know where to put these guys with that performance. This is the most complete offensive performance I have seen from the Knights all season and to do this in come from behind fashion against a team who beat Chippewa Valley and Romeo during the season and was in the thick of the MAC Red conversation. This is a huge accomplishment for Coach Greg Carter and Oak Park. The Knights will head to Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit next week to battle the Cubs.

TOUGH LOSS: Lake Orion and Oxford: The Wildcats lost a hard fought game on Friday night to a very good Clarkston team 21-7. The Dragons lost 28-14 on Friday night to Grand Blanc. Two trick plays and a bad snap were the difference in the Lake Orion/Grand Blanc game. Oxford controlled tempo but their issues offensively got to them. The Wildcats scored 10 points in their final four games. The Wolves will face the Bobcats next week.

WHAT HAPPENED? Ferndale: The Eagles have issues against non league teams and they fell 20-14 to Detroit Renaissance on Friday night. Ferndale though did have a better season but the issue is against bigger schools and non league competition. It will be an interesting offseason for the Eagles but this is a huge issue they need to fix next season.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Rochester: The Falcons had their best season in 27 years going unbeaten and winning the Blue. They had a chance to avenge another feet beating their arch rival in 23 attempts but they laid an egg. The Highlanders had other ideas which resulted a 39-7 blowout on Friday night keeping Rochester the 23 game losing streak intact for the Falcons. Adams held Rochester to just four yards in the first half. The last time the Falcons beat the Highlanders was in 1996. This game was billed to be a huge statement game for Rochester but it was anything but that. Adams still have Rochester’s number. The Highlanders will head to Davison next week to play the Cardinals. I guess Ian Locke owes me an apology.
