Bloomfield Hills has a new girls basketball coach.

The Blackhawks named Kristen Massey as their new head coach replacing Jeff Rubin who was there from the beginning of the new Bloomfield Hills High School when it came to existence.

According to an accurate source Massey was suppose to be an assistant to then new coach Reggie Grantham but the athletic department found that Grantham had a previous conviction under his belt and was forced to step down.

Massey played her high school basketball at Novi Franklin Road Christian. She also played for the Michigan Monarchs AAU program.

Massey is going to have a very difficult task ahead in her first season. She will be very young this season with not a lot of varsity experience.

Program strength is also going to be a huge concern this season for the Blackhawks and also in the future as well.

Bloomfield Hills is going to play in the White this season with the likes of Troy, Adams, Stoney Creek, and North Farmington. They will be in a very tough district at Waterford Mott with the likes of Waterford Mott, West Bloomfield, Avondale, and Pontiac.

Thoughts

Massey is the third new coach in the league this season (Troy-Juilus Porter, Groves-AntJuan Simkins are the other two hires.) Program strength is going to be a huge concern for the Blackhawks. There are going to be some concerns going forward.

It will be very interesting to see how things go. There will be some growing pains early as both the players and coaches adjust to each other. Also Massey has to get his non league schedule set up and quick. It will be very interesting couple of weeks over at Bloomfield Hills.

Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
