2. Oak Park at 1. West Bloomfield: This is the best matchup of the area on Friday afternoon. There will be plenty of Division One College talent everywhere in the Swamp. If there is one area that any certain team will have an advantage it’s at quarterback. The Lakers have CJ Harris while the Knights have Frank Black. Experience could be a factor in this matchup.

Southfield Arts and Tech vs 3. Clarkston at West Bloomfield: This is an interesting matchup on paper at West Bloomfield. The Wolves have an advantage up front with three Division One caliber players. The Warriors have the athletes at the skill positions. It’s who shows their will wins this game.

SANDY DUNES PICK: SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 16, CLARKSTON 7.
DUNLAP PICK: CLARKSTON 31, SOUTHFIELD ARTS AND TECH 17.

Grosse Pointe South vs 4. Groves at Wayne State: This looks to be an interesting matchup at Wayne State. The Blue Devils lost a ton of talent from last season but they have been a solid program. The Falcons are in the same boat. If experience matters it’s got to favor Groves.

SANDY DUNES PICK: GROVES 28, GROSSE POINTE SOUTH 14.
DUNLAP PICK: GROVES 28, GROSSE POINTE SOUTH 21.
BURNEY PICK: GROVES 30, GROSSE POINTE SOUTH 27.

TIM PICK: GROVES 21, GROSSE POINTE SOUTH 17.
D-ZONE PICK: GROSSE POINTE SOUTH 23, GROVES 21.

5. Oxford at Romeo: This series has went back and forth. The Wildcats won three meetings at home while the Bulldogs have won two meetings at either Dan Barnabo Field or at Michigan Stadium. Oxford is 7-23 against Romeo. I think the Wildcats have the best player in this game in Drew Carpenter but the Bulldogs have a ton of experience back and are strong line on both sides of the football led by Jonathan LaFave, Weston Jones, and Ben Weber. This should be a very interesting matchup at Dan Barnabo Field.

SANDY DUNES PICK: OXFORD 20, ROMEO 14.
DUNLAP PICK: OXFORD 28, ROMEO 21.
BURNEY PICK: OXFORD 23, ROMEO 21.
STICK PICK: OXFORD 21, ROMEO 17.
COTTER PICK: ROMEO 28, OXFORD 24
FULL COURT PICK: ROMEO over OXFORD.
TIM PICK: ROMEO 35, OXFORD 14.
D-ZONE PICK: OXFORD 17, ROMEO 14.

6. Lake Orion at Lapeer: The Dragons will look to get a measure of revenge after losing 17-7 to the Lightning at Michigan Stadium last season. Both teams have very physical bruising players with Lapeer having Phoenix Dickson along with Brayden McKenna. Lake Orion counters with Kobe Manzo, Drew Van Heck and a ton of experience. This should be a smash mouth physical game on the gray turf in Lapeer County.

SANDY DUNES PICK: LAKE ORION 28, LAPEER 14.
DUNLAP PICK: LAPEER 31, LAKE ORION 30.
BURNEY PICK: LAKE ORION 27, LAPEER 23.
STICK PICK: LAKE ORION 31, LAPEER 21.
COTTER PICK: LAKE ORION 17, LAPEER 14.
FULL COURT PICK: LAPEER over LAKE ORION.
TIM PICK: LAPEER 35, LAKE ORION 10.
D-ZONE PICK: LAKE ORION 14, LAPEER 10.

7. Ferndale at Seaholm: The Eagles were humiliated last season by the Maples 53-8. Ferndale will look to try to get a measure of revenge after that game. Seaholm is a different team as well. It should be an interesting matchup between these two teams in the Maple Forest.

SANDY DUNES PICK: FERNDALE 24, SEAHOLM 20.
DUNLAP PICK: SEAHOLM 24, FERNDALE 20.
BURNEY PICK: SEAHOLM 26, FERNDALE 24.

FULL COURT PICK: FERNDALE over SEAHOLM.
TIM PICK: SEAHOLM 49, FERNDALE 13.
D-ZONE PICK: FERNDALE 35, SEAHOLM 28.

Waterford Kettering at 8. North Farmington: This will be the first game for new coach Jon Herstein with his new team as he will look to get the Raiders back on track after going 14-31 since 2013. The Captains are 46-135 since 1999. Waterford Kettering does have some athletes including DJ Hamler. If things go right it should be a happy one for Herstein and his new team.

SANDY DUNES PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 45, WATERFORD KETTERING 7.
DUNLAP PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 20, WATERFORD KETTERING 10.
BURNEY PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 28, WATERFORD KETTERING 21.

FULL COURT PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON over WATERFORD KETTERING.
TIM PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 56, WATERFORD KETTERING 0.
D-ZONE PICK: NORTH FARMINGTON 35, WATERFORD KETTERING 21.

9. Farmington at Detroit Henry Ford: This will be the fourth meeting between the Falcons and the Trojans. Detroit Henry Ford has made the playoffs twice since 2010. Farmington should have an advantage in this matchup even though they will have to go to Detroit. This looks to be a blowout.

SANDY DUNES PICK: FARMINGTON 28, DETROIT HENRY FORD 7.
DUNLAP PICK: FARMINGTON 33, DETROIT HENRY FORD 20.
BURNEY PICK: FARMINGTON 24, DETROIT HENRY FORD 20.

FULL COURT PICK: FARMINGTON over DETROIT HENRY FORD.
TIM PICK: FARMINGTON 42, DETROIT HENRY FORD 7.
D-ZONE PICK: FARMINGTON 56, DETROIT HENRY FORD 20.

Troy at 10. Avondale: The Little Brown Jug will be on the line in Auburn Hills in this one. The Colts had won two of the last three meetings against the Yellow Jackets however Avondale won 28-13 last season at Troy. I think talent could be a huge factor in this matchup.

SANDY DUNES PICK: AVONDALE 35, TROY 0.
DUNLAP PICK: AVONDALE 24, TROY 17.
BURNEY PICK: AVONDALE 27, TROY 20.

FULL COURT PICK: AVONDALE over TROY.
TIM PICK: AVONDALE 42, TROY 6.
D-ZONE PICK: AVONDALE 42, TROY 6.

Rochester at Adams: The Falcons haven’t beaten the Highlanders since 1996. Rochester came close last year but a failed two point conversion attempt gave Adams the 28-27 win at Rochester. Could this be the year for the Falcons, the Highlanders are very young this season.

SANDY DUNES PICK: ADAMS 21, ROCHESTER 17.
DUNLAP PICK: ADAMS 17, ROCHESTER 7.
BURNEY PICK: ADAMS 28, ROCHESTER 21.
STICK PICK: ADAMS 21, ROCHESTER 20.

FULL COURT PICK: ADAMS over ROCHESTER.
TIM PICK: ADAMS 35, ROCHESTER 7.
D-ZONE PICK: ADAMS 26, ROCHESTER 13.

Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood at Pontiac: The Cranes have a new coaching staff and a ton of returning players as well. This is a brutal matchup for the Phoenix who are 5-48 since 2011. It’s going to be tough to watch.

SANDY DUNES PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS CRANBROOK KINGSWOOD 17, PONTIAC 12.
DUNLAP PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS CRANBROOK KINGSWOOD 21, PONTIAC 10.

TIM PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS CRANBROOK KINGSWOOD 49, PONTIAC 0.
D-ZONE PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS CRANBROOK KINGSWOOD 28, PONTIAC 0.

St. Clair Shores Lakeview at Royal Oak: This is a matchup that I’m personally looking forward too with the Ravens and the Huskies. Usually the winner goes on and has a successful season. It’s a huge matchup for both teams with a ton at stake.

SANDY DUNES PICK: ROYAL OAK 21, ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 7.
DUNLAP PICK: ROYAL OAK 21, ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 14.

FULL COURT PICK: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW over ROYAL OAK.
TIM PICK: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 28, ROYAL OAK 7.
D-ZONE PICK: ST. CLAIR SHORES LAKEVIEW 24, ROYAL OAK 14.

Detroit Old Redford Academy at Troy Athens: I talked to coach Billy Keenest and he said that his Red Hawks will need to start fast. Well here is a golden opportunity to do that against a Ravens team that has went 11-24 since 2015. Troy Athens should be favored in this game and a good start will be key.

SANDY DUNES PICK: TROY ATHENS 35, DETROIT OLD REDFORD ACADEMY 7.
DUNLAP PICK: TROY ATHENS 24, DETROIT OLD REDFORD ACADEMY 14.
BURNEY PICK: TROY ATHENS 31, DETROIT OLD REDFORD ACADEMY 18.

TIM PICK: TROY ATHENS 14, DETROIT OLD REDFORD ACADEMY 7.
D-ZONE PICK: TROY ATHENS 14, DETROIT OLD REDFORD ACADEMY 3.

Stoney Creek at Utica Ford II: The Cougars have won the two prior meetings over the Falcons by a combined 43-17 including last season’s 24-5 victory in coach Nick Merlo’s debut. Utica Ford II has a ton of returners back in Taveon Thompson, Austin Mayer, and Evan Plets. Not to mention their quarterback is back in Josh Beyers. We know the defense will show up for Stoney Creek but the offense will be key heading into this matchup at Runkel Field.

SANDY DUNES PICK: STONEY CREEK 17, UTICA FORD II 7.
DUNLAP PICK: STONEY CREEK 24, UTICA FORD II 13.
BURNEY PICK: STONEY CREEK 25, UTICA FORD II 22.

FULL COURT PICK: STONEY CREEK over UTICA FORD II.
TIM PICK: STONEY CREEK 35, UTICA FORD II 7.
D-ZONE PICK: UTICA FORD II 42, STONEY CREEK 28.

Bloomfield Hills at Utica: The Blackhawks are trying to rebound from a disappointing 2-7 record last season will look to get back on track in 2019. One of those wins came against Utica. Bloomfield Hills beat the Chieftains 39-14 at home after a questionable fumble call in that game last season. Utica will look to return the favor at Sweinhart. Utica is loaded led by returning quarterback Zach Keen along with running back Gabe Olschefsky and tight end Kurt Kessen. This will be a huge test for the Blackhawks come week one.

SANDY DUNES PICK: UTICA 27, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 20.
DUNLAP PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 20, UTICA 14.
BURNEY PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 20, UTICA 17.
STICK PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 20, UTICA 14.

FULL COURT PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS over UTICA.
TIM PICK: BLOOMFIELD HILLS 42, UTICA 10.
D-ZONE PICK: UTICA 17, BLOOMFIELD HILLS 3.

Brandon at Berkley: This is going to be a very tough matchup for the Bears as Brandon comes a calling. The Blackhawks have made the playoffs in three straight years and is expected to make the postseason for a fourth straight year. Brandon is loaded again as well especially with a very talented running back in Adrien Williams. If Berkley wants to prove they belong this is a game they need to get at Hurley Field.

SANDY DUNES PICK: BRANDON 28, BERKLEY 20
DUNLAP PICK: BRANDON 35, BERKLEY 21.
BURNEY PICK: BRANDON 29, BERKLEY 20.
