BIG WIN: Berkley: The Bears passed their first test by winning at Troy Athens on Friday night 22-20. Berkley is 4-0 for the first time since 2014 and had to comeback from 14-0 down. The Red Hawks have been very competitive lately but hasn’t gotten the results to show for them. The Bears host Bloomfield Hills next week. Troy Athens hosts St. Johns next week.

TOUGH LOSS: Groves: The Falcons were in a tight game with the Maples on Friday night in Beverly Hills but one play changed the whole complexion of the game when quarterback Caleb Knoer whom was playing defense stripped Groves wide receiver Jaden Mangham of the football resulted in a touchback. The next drive the Maples answered by driving for the winning score. Seaholm won their second straight over Groves in the Battle of Birmingham 35-28 and what was shocking was that they only threw one pass in the game. The Maples will head to Clarkston next week while the Falcons heads to Oak Park to play the Knights.

WHAT HAPPENED? Lake Orion: The Dragons offensive problems showed its ugly head on Friday night as they fell 31-7 to the Wolves at home. Lake Orion needs to fix a ton of things if they want to turn things around. The Dragons will host Farmington next week. Clarkston will host Seaholm next week.

TEAM THAT MADE A STATEMENT: Stoney Creek: The Cougars sent a statement by beating Adams for the first time since 2014 and winning at Adams for the first time ever on Friday night 23-10. Stoney Creek will have another tough test looming when they travel to Southfield Arts and Tech next week. The Highlanders have a tough game looming as they head to the Swamp to battle West Bloomfield.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Troy: Ian Locke and I were so high on Troy that we thought they might have turned the corner. Well that didn’t happen which resulted in a 28-7 loss to the Eagles on Friday night. The Colts host Pontiac next week. Ferndale is back to their winning ways as they have a huge one looming with Rochester next week.
