1. Clarkston (4-1): Wolves looking really strong right now.

2. Royal Oak (4-0): Ravens will be tested this week.

3. Berkley (3-1): Bears made a statement last week by beating two really good teams before heading into league play.

4. Southfield Arts and Tech (2-1): Warriors making some strides after last Saturday’s shocking outing.

5. North Farmington (5-0): Raiders sent the White a message they want the crown after beating Adams.

6. Troy Athens (4-0): Red Hawks off to a nice start but they will be tested this week.

7. West Bloomfield (2-1): Lakers have recovered nicely since their opening night loss to Detroit Renaissance.

8. Troy (3-1): Colts bounced back after losing to Berkley by beating an improved Walled Lake Northern squad on Friday.

9. Lake Orion (2-1): Dragons are going along with their business.

10. Oxford (3-1): Wildcats had a bad loss to Groves last week. Can’t have those if you want to make some noise.

Top Games (Boys)- Week of December 16th through December 21st

Seaholm at Groves (Tuesday): The Battle of Birmingham will renew in Beverly Hills on Tuesday night. The Maples are off to a 2-0 start with victories over Center Line and Adams. The Falcons have played some very good competition heading into this game which included Taylor Prep and Detroit Osborn. They sit at 2-1 with a recent loss to Redford Thurston. Also there is no love loss from Groves side of things after their shocking playoff loss to Seaholm in football. It will be very interesting to say the least.

Lake Orion at Oxford (Thursday): It’s interesting to have a rivalry game on a Thursday night. It will be a matchup of two star big guys in Trey Townsend and Dylan Boegheimer. Also the coaching matchup between Steve Laidlaw and Joel Schroeder is there as well. If it was like what it was at Wayne State in the summer then we’re in for a dandy.

Clarkston at Orchard Lake St. Marys (Friday): There will be a ton of star players in this matchup in Orchard Lake on Friday night. The Wolves might have one of the best starting lineups in the State while the Eaglets have a very talented team as well. There will be a ton of talent on the court when Clarkston and Orchard Lake St. Marys play each other.

Novi at Bloomfield Hills (Tuesday): This sets up to be a very interesting matchup between the Blackhawks and the Wildcats. Novi is coming off a loss to Troy last Friday night. Bloomfield Hills is off to a 2-0 start with home wins over Avondale and Rochester. It will be an interesting test for Coach Phil Kurajian and his team on Tuesday.

West Bloomfield at Warren De LaSalle (Tuesday): The Lakers are off to a 2-0 start with wins over Southfield Christian and Detroit University Prep. West Bloomfield will head on the road and take on a Pilots team that has traditionally been very good. It will be very interesting to see how Coach Jeremy Denha matches up in this game.

Stoney Creek at Seaholm (Friday): This will be a tough test for both teams. The Maples have been rolling but you got to wonder how they are after the Groves game on Tuesday. The Cougars are off to a nice start thus far even though they have a game with Chippewa Valley on Tuesday. This will be an interesting matchup to keep an eye on.

Bloomfield Hills at Traverse City West (Friday): The Blackhawks make their journey back to Traverse City to face the Titans. Bloomfield Hills lost to Traverse City West last season. It will be interesting to see how the Blackhawks play the Titans this time around.

Adams at Lake Orion (Tuesday): These are two teams that work very hard and have new coaches. Both teams are very young and expect to have growing pains during the season. The Highlanders have two tough losses to Seaholm and Livonia Stevenson. The Dragons picked up a huge win over Troy Athens on Friday night. As mentioned both teams are far from a finished product.

Top Games (Girls)- Week of December 16th through December 21st

Lake Orion at Adams (Tuesday): The Highlanders have a lot of experience and home court. The Dragons have been going along their business. Lake Orion should be motivated after losing twice to Adams last year. This should be a very interesting game.

Southfield Arts and Tech at Clarkston (Friday): The Wolves look really strong thus far. The Warriors have played better since their loss to Pewamo-Westphaila. Clarkston has played a tough schedule but so has Southfield Arts and Tech. Going on the road hasn’t always been the best for the Warriors and especially to Clarkston. It should be very interesting.

Oxford at Troy (Tuesday): This looks to be very interesting between two very similar teams. The Colts are coming off a tough week which they lost to Berkley last Tuesday night but survived to beat Walled Lake Northern last Friday. The Wildcats were upset by Groves on Tuesday night but bounced back by beating Armada last Friday. This will be a measuring stick game for both teams.

North Farmington at Oxford (Friday): This will be the test for the Raiders when they head north to Oxford to play the Wildcats. North Farmington has had a history struggling on big courts and Oxford is no different. It will be interesting to see what coach Jeff Simpson’s team matches up.

Adams at Avondale (Friday): This looks to be a very interesting matchup. The Yellow Jackets have played a really tough non-league schedule despite the 1-3 start. The Highlanders have played three games in six days which included wins over Waterford Mott and Bloomfield Hills but they lost to North Farmington. It will be very interesting to see what happens in Auburn Hills.

Troy Athens at Troy (Friday): It’s nice to have a rivalry game before the Christmas break. The Red Hawks have been scoring a ton lately on their way to a 4-0 start. I don’t know if they will be unbeaten heading into their game with the Colts. Troy has been battle tested including losing last week to Berkley. This should be a very interesting game.

Bloomfield Hills at Groves (Friday): I got to wonder where the Blackhawks mindset is at after losing last Tuesday to Adams??? The Falcons have been up and down. They had two losses to North Farmington and Troy Athens by a combined 11 points but stunned Oxford on last Tuesday night. This is a classic trap game for Coach Jeff Rubin’s team and Groves beat Bloomfield Hills once last season.

Rochester at Seaholm (Tuesday): This game could decide who challenges Berkley for the Blue crown. The Falcons have played a tough schedule sitting at 1-3 with their losses being competitive. The Maples have been playing better which included an upset road win at Stoney Creek last Tuesday night. This shall be very interesting.

Royal Oak at Southfield Arts and Tech (Tuesday): The Ravens have been surviving games lately despite being unbeaten. They will be tested when they head to Southfield to face a Warriors squad that has by far played a tougher schedule than Royal Oak. It will be very interesting to see what happens.

Ferndale at Pontiac (Tuesday): The Eagles bounced back by beating Madison last week. The Phoenix have really struggled. Could this be the game that new coach Keith Paris be looking for to put Ferndale on the map???
