BIG WIN: Southfield Arts and Tech: The Warriors took all the disrespect to heart and sent a statement throughout the State with their 28-14 victory over Clarkston on Friday afternoon at West Bloomfield. Southfield Arts and Tech dominated on both sides of the football against a young and inexperienced Wolves team. The Warriors go to Lake Orion next week in a huge game. Clarkston still has a tough schedule looming but they need to get things fixed quickly. They go to Bloomfield Hills next week.
TOUGH LOSS: Oak Park: It was a great game between the Knights and Lakers but someone had to lose and it was Oak Park who fell 20-14 to West Bloomfield in the Swamp on Friday night. The Knights should be fine going forward. They have Rochester next week.
TEAM THAT MADE A STATEMENT: Lake Orion: The Dragons defense made a couple of huge statements including a goal line stand in a 17-7 win at Lapeer on Friday afternoon. Lake Orion had a huge second quarter scoring 17 unanswered points but the defense played really well. The Dragons will host Southfield Arts and Tech in another big game next week.
WHAT HAPPENED: Rochester: The Falcons will have to wait another year to get back at Adams but the defense is still a huge issue after allowing 60 points in a 60-24 Highlanders blowout on Friday night. Rochester has a ton of questions on the defensive side of the football but allowing 60 to your arch rivals is not a good thing. The Falcons have Oak Park next week.
TEAM THAT NEEDS A HUG: Bloomfield Hills: The Blackhawks battled back from a 26-13 deficit against Utica only to tie the game at 34-34 but the Chieftains hit a field goal to give them the three point victory at Sweinhart Field on Friday night. Bloomfield Hills has a tough road looming as they host Clarkston next week.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME: Ferndale: The Eagles had a ton of motivation after falling 53-8 to Seaholm last season in the Maple Forest but the Maples took advantage of Ferndale's mistakes and blew out the Eagles for the second straight year winning 41-6 on Thursday night on the same field. Ferndale could be in some serious trouble especially with the schedule that is looming.
TEAM THAT MADE ME SHAKE MY HEAD: Royal Oak: The Ravens had high hopes and experience returning from a team that had just missed the playoffs last season but they have had issues with St. Clair Shores Lakeview. Royal Oak had the Huskies at home this season but they were shut out 20-0 on Thursday night sending the Ravens to their third loss in four years against St. Clair Shores Lakeview. I don't know if I see this team making the playoffs especially with Farmington looming next week.
