Southfield Arts and Tech has their new Boys Basketball Coach.

Written Wednesday November 21st at 7:00 PM

The Warriors have their new boys basketball coach and it's a surprising move.

Southfield Arts and Tech has named Darryle Buchanan the team's new head coach replacing Mike Avery whom stepped down last season.

Buchanan was the Southfield School Board President but he is now coaching the Warriors whom will have a ton of experience back. He was a career politician but he did coach the Transition Michigan Basketball of Michigan program.

Buchanan will have Cameron McEvans, Terrell Humes, and a lot of experience coming back this season. Southfield Arts and Tech will compete in the White with Adams, Farmington, Avondale, Rochester, Stoney Creek, and Troy Athens. They will be in a brutal district with Oak Park, Detroit Renaissance, Detroit University-Detroit Jesuit, Detroit Mumford, and Redford Union.

Thoughts

I'm not a fan of this hire. I'm not sure how his basketball background got him this job. He was the Southfield School Board President for a time so it will be interesting how the Warriors adjust to his style of coaching.

Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
