Maples have a new Interim Girls Basketball Coach.

Written Saturday October 13th at 1:05 AM

The Maples will have an interim coach this season.

The team has named Chris Manchester as the team's interim coach replacing January Hlaski

Hlaski was named assistant principal replacing Verynda Stroughner whom took over as principal at Detroit Renaissance.

Manchester was formerly the Boys Basketball coach at Center Line but he teaches in the Birmingham School District at Birmingham Covington Middle School as a Physical Education and health teacher.

Manchester was 33-53 in his four seasons at Center Line including last season going 4-18. The Maples had a rough season going 3-18 last season.

Seaholm will have plenty of talent returning for Manchester which should help a lot. Also the Maples are one of the favorites in the Blue this season after dropping down from the White last season.

Thoughts.

This is an interesting hire but I have big concerns. Usually coaches who come from the Boys game struggle in the Girls game. The Girls game is a lot different than the Boys game. I'm curious to see how Manchester adjusts to the Girls game.

We shall see what happens.

Stay tuned to OAA Now for the latest on this developing story.
