Football and Track Athlete forced to sit out from sports for now.

Well this is an interesting story according to WXYZ.

Joseph Stevens and his family moved and in the process switched schools from Farmington to Harrison because of financial hardships.

Stevens was a football and track standout at Farmington. He is expected to play for coach John Herrington and the Hawks this fall.

The Farmington School District held up Stevens ineligibility to play football and track for six months unless he and his family can prove that the move wasn't athletically motivated but after going back and fourth for a month with the school district the matter was still under investigation and Stevens wasn't cleared to play.

The MHSAA rule states that if the parents move with their kid then they could play immediately if they have proof that they sold their home and moved but if the move was for athletic reasons then the player must sit out for 180 days.

It's interesting because Harrison and Farmington are in the same school district along with North Farmington.
