BIG WIN: Harrison. The Hawks shut out a very good West Bloomfield team 28-0 on Friday night. Harrison coach John Herrington had a strong game plan for the Lakers vaunted attack holding them to -12 rushing and 205 total yards. The Hawks started out fast against West Bloomfield as they scored early with their first three drives being touchdowns. Big win for Herrington’s team as they get to host Adams next week.

TOUGH LOSS: Ferndale. The Eagles hung tough with the Blackhawks over at Bloomfield Hills on Friday night losing 23-20. Ferndale has been a rising team since merging with Ferndale University with the MHSAA CoOP program. The Eagles are heading in the right direction and they get Pontiac on the road next week.

TEAM THAT NEEDS A HUG: Avondale. The Yellow Jackets have been having a ton of bad luck lately with their recent heartbreak being a 29-28 loss to Rochester. Avondale has went through a rough off season with three different coaches in six months. They had an early season heartbreaking loss to New Boston Huron 22-18 in the first week of the season and have really struggled since. The Yellow Jackets really fit this category of needing a hug right now.

TEAM THAT NEEDS A HUG II: Adams. The Highlanders not only lost their chance at a unbeaten season but lost their fifth straight game to the Knights since 2012 in heartbreaking fashion 44-43 in overtime at home on Friday night. Oak Park scored a winning two point conversion to give Adams their first loss of the season. The Highlanders now have to go on the road next week at Farmington Hills against Harrison.

WHAT HAPPENED: Berkley. The Bears had a ton of momentum riding with them heading into their non-league matchup with Pontiac Notre Dame Prep but it was the Irish that went into Hurley Field and beat Berkley 26-3. Now yes it was coach Pat Fox’s first trip back to Hurley Field in which he coached the Bears from 1989-1996. I’m in shock to see what happened to the Berkley, I guess we will find out next week when the Bears host Rochester at Hurley Field.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME: Farmington. The Falcons held a 21-0 and a 28-7 lead only to see Seaholm come from behind and stun Farmington 29-28 at Farmington. The Maples scored a touchdown and got a two-point conversion with under a minute left in the game to seal what was an upset win. Got to give credit to coach Jim DeWald and Seaholm for not giving up and beating the Falcons on the road. Farmington falls to 0-4 and will host an angry Oxford team next week. The Wildcats comes in at 1-3 and gave up 52 points to Orion last week. Not a good situation for coach John Beuctal's Falcons right now.
