Walker No Longer Coach at Harrison.

It looks like Allen Walker and Harrison have parted ways.

According to two accurate sources Harrison first year coach Allen Walker resigned last week leaving the Hawks Girls Basketball team in a unique situation with districts coming up in two weeks at West Bloomfield. Reasons were unknown but a source said it was parent troubles and lack of backing from the administration which forced him to resign.

Walker wasn't present in the Hawks 62-47 loss to Clarkston nor the Stoney Creek game where Harrison fell 57-48 leaving their record at 12-5 and 5-3 in the Red. The two home losses eliminated the Hawks from the Red chase as they are now three games behind Lathrup.

The Hawks have named boys basketball coach Stefan Wilson the interim coach. Wilson becomes the second person in the OAA to coach both boys and girls teams, only Jeff Rubin has coached both teams while he was at Andover until the merger when they and Lahser became Bloomfield Hills in 2012.

Harrison we all know has been dealing with the rumors of closing in a few years.

Walker whom came over to Harrison from Troy replaced Tim Micklash last season. Micklash left due to family commitments after his family had a baby boy. He left Walker a very good team led by Kristen Nelson, Amber Stephens, Nyla Warren, Olivia Perkins, Teddy Perkins (no relation), among others. The Hawks two seasons ago went to the regional finals where they lost a heart-breaker to Dexter and last season took a huge hit after losing Kyla Roland to a season ending injury but Olivia Perkins played well in that stretch replacing Roland.

Now the Hawks and Walker have moved on. Harrison still has to finish out the season but the schedule is not easy as the Hawks have to go at Lathrup Village on Thursday to play Lathrup. Harrison will have two home games next week against Adams and the Crossover and then districts where they will likely play North Farmington at West Bloomfield in the district semifinals.

Stay tuned to the blog and OAA Now for this developing story. This story will be updated as more information comes out.

  1. Olivia Perkins has not played the last 2 games due to injury. The previous coach was not the proper replacement for the prior coach, Micklash, who left Walker with a Championship caliber team. Team ran no plays, and Coach lost the team. Fresh start with an experienced coach, but waiting for Olivia Perkins (no relation to Teddie Pickens) to get healthy. If Olivia Perkins gets healthy, could be a run at Breslin.

  3. Yep, I expect Olivia Perkins healthy for districts. I think districts you have good chance to win it but you got to get by Mercy and North. Might have to deal with Novi and or Northville in regional but take it one game at a time.
