It looks like the Knights got a new girls basketball coach as one icon replaces another.
Oak Park hired Peggy Farr, formerly Peggy Evans to coach their program according to State Champs, Scott Burnstein. Farr replaces Diane Jones whom was successful at Detroit Renaissance as a coach. Jones left for California.
Farr led Inkster to the 2011 Class A State Crown and has been very successful at River Rouge as well. She once coached the Knights in the 2000's. Farr played at Ohio State and also for coach Pat Summit at Tennessee for college hoops. She played her high school ball at Birmingham Detroit Country Day.
Looking at the outlook for the Knights, the problem is in the lower levels (middle school.) If Farr can develop the program there then she could have success in the long term. Oak Park was a middle of the pack team last season.
In the short term, Oak Park will have to deal with Southfield, Seaholm, Avondale, and Rochester in the Blue. The Knights have some questions heading into the season and they do have a tough district with Lathrup, Southfield, and Detroit Renaissance in there.
It will not be an easy first season for Evans.
