Well with the school year over there will be many high school athletes going out to colleges for their team camp or just what happened recently at Macomb Dakota where the had the Sound Mind Sound Body football camp this week where over 1,500 athletes showed up including several OAA players. The camp was ran by Curtis Blackwell, an Michigan State recruiting coordinator, whom is well known in Detroit.
They ran drills to get themselves better, get noticed, listened to presentations from Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell along with former Pittsburgh Steelers running back and Detroit great Jerome Bettis, talked to top coaches like Urban Meyer of Ohio State, James Franklin of Penn State, Mark Dantonio of Michigan State, Jerry Kill of Minnesota, P.J Fleck of Western Michigan, Brian Kelly of Notre Dame, and Jim Harbaugh of Michigan, among others.
I do have a little bit of an issue because of the publicity that some camps get, especially with how much hype this camp got. You really don't get to see the players in pads until the fall but they are getting advice from the top coaches and getting better. I don't know if you do see a difference, every team and player is different.
